I haven't watched Animal yet, but I plan to since I enjoy psychological thrillers.

Regarding the topic, it's important to distinguish between celebrating a movie and endorsing the actions of its protagonist.

Celebrating a movie typically involves acknowledging and admiring various cinematic elements like storytelling, acting, direction, cinematography, and the overall artistic execution. It signifies an appreciation for the creative aspects contributing to the film's impact. I believe that most of us, as good and reasonable human beings, fall into this category.

A film's merits should not hinge on the interpretations of individuals with questionable understanding from the get go. A movie's quality should not depend on potentially misguided interpretations from those already on the brink of darker tendencies, seeking a justification for their violent inclinations.

This movie is intended for adults, and as mature individuals educated about right and wrong, it is our responsibility to approach everything with moderation and recognize a movie for what it is – a movie.

No. You are doing with the video what you were doing with the movie, denying what is there to suit your narrative.

First you argued that both characters were written to be hated on and I gave you many examples included one of a senior journalist who said that Ran Vijay loves his father and wife

You brought up other journalists and said that none said they want to be like him but that they liked Ranbir

I gave you video of a woman, who watched the movie but isn't a Ranbir fan so the blanket of Ranbir fan praising Ranbir doesn't work here

1) You can clearly see that she feels bad for Ranvijay and was talking about his love for his father and how his father neglected him and compared it to her father, she can't be like Ranbir but she drew comparisons with real life.

2) The scene where she speaks about 2 brothers is between Ranbir and Bobby Deol 🤦‍♀️

Do you not hear her saying "Chhod Dena tha, Bhai to hai"?

Where do you see the disgust for both characters as you were trying to portray all this while?

Continue with the charade, I am out

News flash …characters can be in love and still be shit people 😂…they are not mutually exclusive …the journo said the char loved his dad and wife …didn’t say he loved the character or wanted to be loved liked that? Isnt that what this thread was scared of?

And again no one in that video said they wanted to be the characters lol…

Yeah, I'm out, too.

1. There's nothing wrong in the movie because there is no glorification of the violence against women.

2. Even if there is, no woman is celebrating it.

3. Even if they are, they are not feminists.

4. Even if they are feminists, they should have the right to celebrate violence against women because that is also part of women's rights.

5. Even if they shouldn't, makers are not responsible for what impressionable sections of society take away from the movie.

6. Even if they do replicate scenarios in real life, the feminists who were celebrating the success of this movie were just celebrating Ranbir, and they do not bear any responsibility for normalizing this.

7. Even if they do, we shouldn't be speaking about any of this until all other ills suffered by women are resolved, starting with lower-class women.

8. Even if that is impossible to achieve, we can't speak about this because there is no way out of this problem.

9. Even if the suggestion is to not celebrate the movie, then why watch movies by #metoo accused because an accusation on one person has the same influence on society as a movie that celebrates violence on women.

10. Who cares about any of the above? The thread is not valid because TM did not support PC/Katrina/trans women in women's prisons/shelters/sports

The movie is written by 3 men. Directed and edited by a man. Produced by a man. Spearheaded by a man. Women are not even token actors in Venga's universe. They are only tools for the alpha man narrative. Neither does the violence add depth or character to the movie, nor does it help set the narrative. It also shocks and makes your senses go on an overdrive, like it's so unbelievable at some parts that you go ohhhh shittt loudly. By the time you come off that high (of emotions), you'll see that there was no plot or story.

If you're offended by the movie, drag the maker and mind behind the crap. Actually, I even see a lot of men this time speaking up about the misplaced violence in the movie unlike KS/AR, which is a good thing. People are catching up to his brand of cinema. It's only gaining traction because it's novel at this point. He masks his lack of story and plot behind the violence. By his fourth or fifth venture, that shit be stale. No more takers. It will phase out just like other crap. But the shifting blame to women will never phase out sadly, here or IRL.

most recent take was Katrina stayed in an abusive cycle with Salman for career gain

Regular audience doesn't go to see Hirani's movie because he's a metoo accused.

Audience goes to see Vanga's movies because he promises them violence, against women in particular.

There is a huge difference.

Similarly, I am not applauding Ranbir s performance because I am in love with Ranvijay. Or even Vanga.

Don't question my morality, integrity or humanity when I am not even supporting the character.

I don’t think anyone is “celebrating” it. It’s a movie at the end of the day.

You may not be, but there are several people on IF celebrating the movie. Or rather the success of this movie glorifying violence on women.

That's not a good position to take as a feminist. That's not a good position for anyone.

It's a tricky thing to rely 'only' on accused...even in this cases, the law should have spoken a "guilty" before... (I didn't want SRK to do a movie with Hirani but I don't know his reply to the question why he did so...and to be honest, I loath the Chopra-couple - VV and Anupama - to have judged Hirani publicly but hot having followed up the support of the woman who accused him. So, in a certain way, Hirani got 'acquitted'.)

Everyone who lauds GOT does not supports Pregnant woman getting stabbed in her belly multiple times.

Or Sansa s rape.
