Balti Devi was a very reputed dancer. Had a lot of name, fame and respect. The aura they showed her having initially, where has it disappeared? (Not a comment on her abandoning Majboor) But now she is shown as a helpless hag getting taunted by Sadakchaaps Jhuli, Romil etc who no one cares about. What a downfall. And it can all be attributed to the 'Anupamaa effect'
Other characters too have experienced this. Rakhi was always standing strong against the brazen shamelessness of TamaShahis but became a pliable relative before being phased out. Kinjal was a smart, educated modern young woman but turned into a docile doormat. Barkha could have been a strong counterfoil to Anupamaa's nonsense but instead has been reduced to a typical scheming side character who is inconsequential. None more so, than Anupamaid's current husband Majboor who went from a smart, suave businessman into a pathetic, dumb, simping slave for TamaShahis and lost all his self respect. The downfall of all these and more began with just one wrong decision of being involved in Anupamaaverse.
But why does this 'Anupamaa effect' work only on outsiders. All these years and yet mawaali jhuli is a nasty, guttermouth or Makkhi is a senseless, ill mannered brat. It's because the core nature of royal masters can't be changed and this version of a Panauti only affects outsiders near the sphere of Royal TamaShahis and reduced them to the rump we see them in.
