I thought the writing in Maidens was better, though the twist in The Silent Patient was more compelling.

I figured out the killer immediately and I didn't like the way it depicted group therapy. Some of the psychological aspects of it made me very, very uncomfortable. I kept thinking is this even right, as I was reading the book, which threw me off.

As I like to learn about the professions, I will take a look into Elly Griffiths' novels (somehow it seems that they did not become popular in Germany). Until now, I mostly read Patricia Cornwell and Keithy Reichs (and 'old' Elizabeth Peters' novels about Amelia Peabody) .

The Door to December by Dean Koontz is an excellent thriller about a mother who's also a doctor and who recently got back her child from her dead kooky ex-husband. Supernatural events keep happening around them and she's out to save her child at all costs with the help of a policeman. Worth it for the twist at the end.

Intensity by the same author is about another young woman who's out to save a victim from a serial killer and finds his attention shifting to her.
