Highly unimpressed with season 8

This season is so unimpressive. None of the contestants are standing out and they are all making such basic dishes.

In this overnight challenge, they are making things like ramen, focaccia bread, pao, baturas, and what not. How are these innovative and new?

My thoughts exactly. Kriti has never made a focaccia. Over night focaccia has to be the easiest to make. Kenneth did not realise that regular amount of yeast left overnight will over prove. A tiny bit less yeast works well. Harish also has not made a bread. Suraj had issues with dough but his burger looked cute in the promo for today’s episode. Also 45 minutes preptime was too much.

P.S. i felt icky seeing Kenny knead dough without a glove. He had a bandaid on his finger. So did Ruksar & Ranveer.

I always had this issue when Ranveer licks his spoon & taps the table 🤮

I skipped all the audition, boot camp episodes. No patience in me to watch them. Too much drama in the audition.

I’m not impressed with the contestants in general. Some may be interesting but most are everyday basic cooks with little to no innovation.

Nambi - she’s being hyped. While her food looks interesting she makes everyday food from her region. So while new to many of us, it’s not unique or different for some.

Nidhi - everything has to have a Himachali touchZ reminds me of Suvarna who would add thecha to everything to make it Maharashtrian style. Where’s the out of the box thinking? And the chefs praised her madra so much? It’s a simple easy dish.

Sima - again making Mughlai food all the time that’s available in almost every other Indian restaurant. I don’t think we’re expecting anything different from her in the future.

Kriti - will stick to baking. She reminds me of Neha and Bhakti from the all veg season. She’s taking the easy route all the time.

Harry - so unimpressive. His choice of dishes are bisibele bhat, and other South Indian staples. I checked out his Instagram, what he cooks is great for everyday, but certainly not ok for Masterchef.

Mohammed Aashiq- I thought he’d not cook well, but he’s churner our some winners but still it’s nothing different. He’ll continue to cook regular food. I don’t think he’d be able to pull off an Asian meal or international cuisines.

So far I’m looking forward to Kenneth and Rukhsaar (she surprised me with ramen).

I expect to see a lot of desserts, traditional Indian food with no innovation and extra praise for Nambi and Nidhi this year.

Kenneth, Rukshar, and Mohammed Aashiq have surprised me.

For an 18 year old, Kenneth knows a lot. We've had young contestants before, but never with this knowledge base. I don't think he actually used his bandaged finger to knead. A few times when they showed him, he was sticking that finger out as he was kneading and I think the dough that got stuck on it he threw out.

Rukshar is making ramen. Honestly I'm not happy with that because at this level to make ramen seems too simple. But the fact that she isn't using her "main Kashmiri hoon" stance or just cooking Kashmiri food is praiseworthy.

Mohammed Aashiq is surprising because I didn't think he had such a strong background in cooking the way they showed him, but so far his dishes are coming out as winners. Not MC level, but then who is this season?

I think Mohammed is doing a okay job and similarly for Rukhsar. WRT to Kennie, I'm still on the fence as I didn't find him that impressive.

Nambi is annoying & Nidhi is just all about Himachali food lol.

Saw yesterday's episode of happy universe.

Don't know what to do. The episode was so drab and dull. Totally undeserving contestants and Ranveer goes on and on and on....

At this rate will give up watching this season

Thanks for the forum. Are the auditions and boot camp over? I am planning to only watch it when the main competition starts. Have no patience because the season looks pretty mid. I just saw a video of the judges going gaga over a contestant making fries out of potato peels- something that already exists outside and historically, it is a traditional Bengali recipe since ages made by widows and now a very popular dish in mainstream bengali cuisine. (Alur khosha bhaja/khosha bata). And Ranveer called it a milestone. smiley5 The contestants from the snippets look very basic.
