I like different actors for different reasons.

But Shammi and Dev are my go-tos. ☺️ Sunil Dutt I find eminently watchable.

As is Madhubala.

Other favorites are Waheeda, Meena Kumari and Vyjayanthimala.

Dilip Kumar is always a joy to watch- his movies not so much, though some of them are absolute gems.

Guru Dutt - I enjoy his movies more than his performances.

RK - I would count some of his movies as the best ever made but I do not enjoy his bumbling Chaplinesque persona. 😆 RK in Awara & Chori Chori was ⭐️

GUIDE is not streaming legally thanks to DA's useless nikamma nithalla chomu dharti ka bojh #%%$^ son but I have archive.org links that have its DVDrips.

Besides Kala Pani and Hum Dono, I'd recommend Solva Saal. It's an uber cute film. ❤️

Next would be Jewel Thief, Kala Bazar, Asli Naqli for now.

BTW, Lizzie, have you watched the Hollywood version of The Guide? It was filmed before the hindi version.

YT versions are either unavailable due to rights not being renewed by nikamma or are stretched and cropped to fit today's HD standards.

I started digging into Nutan after watching Bandini and then only realised what a wonderful body of work she has.She worked so many realistic social related movies.Sujata ,Bandini, Paying Guest, Seema, Khandan, Saudagar(I dont know how many have seen this one but I loved it)..I have enjoyed them all.

I think Nutan, Waheeda Rehman and Jaya Bhaduri were all very natural.Do watch Jaya Bhaduri’s movies also..she is the most underrated actress of her times.

Came here to suggest (the less famous) Saudagar -the song Sajna Hai Mujhe is a joy to watch too (both Saudagars have good songs😆). Also, Milan (1967, again, great songs!).

For Sunil Dutt - Sangam (and take in the beauty of Vijayantimala) and Padosan (do admire Saira Banu's jaw dropping beauty).

Also, literally any Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie (start with Anari).

Apki Kasam (my current favorite old era actress is Mumtaz... not conventionally beautiful, but what a beauty!!).

Shree 420 was a decent watch (once upon a time I could sing the entire Mera Joota Hai Japani song... today can just hum a few lines).

Chalti ka Naam Gaadi (good movie, and you can't miss Madhubala ).

Also watch Dosti, and Boot Polish (not many movies today that show the people at the bottom of the food chain)
