Part 14:
A few days later...
Maan's back home after a hectic day at work, it's almost been a week since he had been to work because of Geet. Maan had planned to get back to work from the very next day after he was discharged but Geet didn't let him.. All of his days schedule was looked after by Geet, she made sure that he ate, walked, did light hand and head exercise, then had a good sleep after taking medicines. He had a very good amount of sleep in the last few days that he felt he could stay without sleep for the rest of his life.
Not that he didn't like Geet taking care of him, he loved her being around looking after him, instructing to do this and that, feeding him, patting him to sleep, being by his side all the while and doing the house chores simultaneously. He would have loved to stay back, if she let him work!!
Finally not being able to take the boredom and no work, this morning he decided that he would go to work no matter what. Because of this he had an argument with Geet in the morning, Geet tried convincing him to stay back and rest, so that he could recover soon but the stubborn he was didn't listen instead he assured her that he was alright and there was a lot of pending work to be completed.. This argument ended up with Maan going to office and Geet being angry at him.
After completing as much work he could, making sure to follow all the instructions given by Geet, he was back by 6:30.
He opened the door and stepped inside only to find it dark. He tried switching on the lights but that didn't work. Before locking the door he observed the corridor was brightly light, which meant that power was there, except in here. Confused he took out a torch from the drawer of the TV stand.
"Iss power ko kya hogaya?"
Then the thought of Geet flashed, he called out to her
"Geett" but no response, he frantically started looking out for her in the living room, kitchen, balcony but she was no where.
"Geeeettt"
He called out to her again while climbing up the stairs to their room, with the torch light on the floor leading him the way.. At the end of the steps while turning towards the small and short corridor that lead to the room, the flash of the light from the torch fell on the wall then back to the floor....Maan stopped dead in his tracks. In that short flicker of few seconds of the light moving from the floor to the wall and back to the floor, Maan saw someone, well to be precise he saw a face of a man dressed in white standing there (that's Jessie guys)..
He instantly turned to the spot with a gasp, where he actually felt like he saw someone...only to find it empty. He moved the torch around scanning the area but found it completely silent, dark and empty.
Maan was complementing about what to make out of what he saw just now, when he heard something breaking from inside the room.
"Geet!" he panicked thinking that something happened to Geet.
He called out her name and rushed into their room only to find it empty, he was utterly confused. But the red light from the attached room(where Geet used to live earlier) drew him towards it.
He moved forward with slow steps and a thudding heart.
Maan reached infront of the room, only to shudder seeing the sight infront of him.
The room was oddly lit up with bed lamps and ceiling lights, which emitted a strange yellow mixed red light!! And upon that they were flickering, but that was not what left him to freeze in his place. There stood Geet like a stone, beside the bed dressed in a white colour anarkali suit, with her back to the door(Maan).
"Geet??" was all Maan could utter in disbelief.
Maan for the first time ever, didn't feel the same peace and warmth that usually spread through him in the presence of Geet. He felt the dead opposite of that, along with uncomfortableness, suffocation, anxiety and cold shivers running down his spine!
Maan had several questions popping up, when there is electricity in the whole building, why isn't it in his house. Ok for a second let's consider that there is some technical issues, but how come only this room in the whole of the house is strangely having the power supply? What was that he felt like he saw someone at the end of the stairs!?
Most importantly, what is wrong with Geet, why didn't she respond to his continuous calls which echoed throughout the silent house...as far as he knew, from the time she came in, how much ever disinterested she may have behaved in the start but she never failed to recognize his presence. After the accident she had been too worried about him that she didn't leave his side and would come running leaving all of her work at his one call.. Didn't respond today?
His brain started thinking of all the possible logical reasons; was Geet in trouble? Had she stepped on a wire carrying current and was electrocuted? That lead her to stand like a stone and unreactive!! No sooner this thought crossed his mind, he lunged forward screaming her name in panic "Geeeettt"
But as he was about to step in to the room, the room door automatically shut on its own with Geet's figure still in the same position.
A startled Maan began to hardly bang on the door "Geet" *thud* *thud* *thud* and tugged the door handle harder. How much ever he tried it went in vain but he didn't give up.
Next second he heard apart from his own panicked filled voice calling out for Geet was the loud shrill of his phone. No sooner did it ring the electricity was back, but Maan was too lost in Geet that he fails to notice it.
He fishes his pocket for the ringing cell, while still tugging the door handle.
Maan looks into his mobile screen disinterested and turns his gaze back to the door infront of him, only for him to swap his head back to the mobile screen again.
He starred in disbelief at the still ringing mobile, it's screen displaying a picture of a smiling Geet and her name. He moved a few feet away from the door
"Geet!! But.." he looked to and fro from his mobile and the still closed door.
He without wasting a second more answered the call
"Hello" came Geet's tired voice from the other end
"Hello!!" was Maan's strained voice
"Mai kab se main door knock kar rahi hu..please door open kijiye." and the call ended
"What?" he looked back at the closed door and at his phone, before stumbling his way to the main door.
Maan unlocked and opened the main door to see Geet in a green saree standing there with a tired face.
Geet looked at him confused by his starring and silently left from there not having an ounce of an idea the experience Maan had and his current state of mind. Maan starred at Geet's face in disbelief and his head flung upwards in the direction of their room and back to Geet again while closing the door shut.
"Yeha akhir ho kya raha hai!! Meri accident hona aur Geet aapne aap ko uskeliye zimedar kehna....kahi mai pagal to nahi banrahi hu? Something is definitely wrong"
****************
Jessie was having a sly smile looking at Maan's panic stricken, confused and worried face..then his eyes narrowed at Geet who was working her way in the kitchen.
"Geet bohat bechain horahi ho tumhare pati ko meri bare mai batane keliye! Tch..tch...but what proof do you have to prove what ever you are saying is right? You would need something to prove of my existence right? Your husband may believe that you had a past but not sure if he would believe in ghosts. Isliye mai tumhara kaam aasan kar rahi hu, tell him when ever you have planned to tell him about me. But before that I will make sure he comes to know about my presence, so that he believes you and let's you go, after which I will happily take you with me....what ever happened today before you came is enough. The worm I have left in his brain today will not let him rest in peace, unless he finds out what's going on."

Percap: what's Maan upto? Will Jessie be successful in his mission? Will Maan be able to save Geet?
