I tried to find the part about the phone call to his di but gave up. I am trying to recollect. He thought of calling, has her number saved but didn’t. Wasn’t that the time he was reminiscing about the old picture of Khushi that was his screen saver? I know I have many old contacts in my phone that are outdated and should be deleted. Maybe, that’s the case here and Anjali is no more. Without thinking his first instinct is to reach out to her for help.

My theory is the Puja they have every year is Anjali’s or the baby’s or both’s Barsi. Someone already mentioned that as a possibility. He runs away like the IPKKND Arnav does on his mom’s birthday. Something happened that Arnav couldn’t stop that was so traumatic that it broke his family apart.

Maybe the father sent Anjali back to her village husband who was mistreating her. Arnav tried to stop her from going.. Anjali chose to go back. Her not choosing Arnav in this matter because she was so traditional she didn’t even use her husband’s name. Then, when Arnav went back by train in their first year of marriage he witnessed something he wasn’t able to stop. Remember, he says to Khushi when he brings her back that have gone through worst things in their marriage and survived.

Just a thought.

So plausible. That phone contact is a very ambiguous thing. I do want to say one thing. In the last comment thread, someone pointed out that Appy di always called Anjali, Anjali Raizada. Even though she was married. I think before whatever happened, she got divorced too.

Here’s my theory after putting it all together. All sentences about Anjali -

What throws me off the dead Anjali theory is only one thing - author mentioned Anjali’s character will play a role in present time Arshi’s life and their journey from here onwards. This makes me wonder if she has gone missing.

More than his parents, Arnav hates the place and people. Which is why he was worried about “how will that place treat a divorcee”. This is what he told his doc. What if his di came back after divorce and people gave her the same treatment as Khushi? That ultimately forced her to just pack up everything and leave?

This theory explains to me why he was so restless about Khushi moving there, and also musing he failed his di who chose to leave. He reached to save Khushi. He never reached to save his di.

Maybe, he was the only one Anjali chose to share his mistreatment with. This, him thinking all three of his family won’t understand why he hates that place so much?

This will also explain the fallout between father and son. Maybe Arnav believes they should have been more caring towards Anjali.

Maybe this also explains the phobia. He must have felt responsible for Anjali and the new baby and he failed. And just doesn’t want to do that to an innocent life again.

Thanks Tashi. Found it and read it. Khushi’s picture was three years old. One he had taken, he liked and never thought about again. He was playing with the phone and out of habit punched in Anjali’s (Gudia’s ) number without thinking, hovered over it and put it away. Doesn’t preclude her having died.

I still firmly believe Anjali is no more. That calling her up thought was a wishful thinking. And what Arpita might mean Anjali to play major role here is we will get to know what actually happened and how that binds or seperates arshi. She might play major role of being the catalyst of things without actually being present. Like a specter.

I still think in Oct it's Anjali barsi and she choose the baby and her village family over Arnav and somehow the baby is responsible for anjali's death. Arnav doesn't want to get emotionally attached to a child. He might fear he will act like Anjali.

Tashi and Puja made valid points Yesterday but somehow I am just not able to change this thought

See if a person is estranged, u might miss them, u might be terribly hurt but u won't have panic attacks or severe phobia. U know that person is safe somewhere even if u can't see them or reach them. U eventually move on. But with a death and such death for which u hold urself responsible it's very difficult to let go

Very plausible. Then why the Puja every year that they hold in the village that Khushi attends and Arnav runs away from? Could also be her birthday or nothing to do with Anjali. He seems particularly traumatized, and do the right thing Chote keeps reoccurring. Gudia could play a major role, in fact does, and still be dead. Did Arpita mention that her story will be told and then she like Shyam will not be present anymore? Seems like she posted that once.

Yes he was going to separate from Khushi but they have basically directed his decisioning. He knows that .

In all his actions that he has taken..it seems he is thinking about everybody except Khushi. She is in the bottom of his priority list. So one questions does he even love her?

I think people are misreading me when I say he let it go calmly. He chose not to fight because it’s not his style. That is tru. The paragraph specifically mentioned how angry he really was.

Arnav’s reaction is milder than everyone expected because the first emotion he feels is relief. And he was protected. He was fully lawyered up. They were not going to get him anyway. His communication to Lavanya had been approved by a civil litigation lawyer.

I would like to point out I never mentioned he wasn’t angry. Contrary to popular belief here in the thread, he was extremely angry and showed all physics signs. Anger, trembling with fury, waves upon waves of anger. That’s why I said put it on Aman because when ASR was getting extremely pissed, he butted in with his Khushi bhabhi remark.

As far as them directing the divorce decision- unfortunately that’s not what he thinks. I clarified in my last post. He thinks he is responsible. Why? He has fleeting moments of remembering he was not with Khushi and he did not stop it.

The dig at Manali? Arnav’s exact reaction and intention was to piss her off. Why did he talk of a genuine relationship? Lavanya almost cried in front of him for a relationship, shedding all pretence. The chapter says it caught him off guard because he wasn’t thinking on those lines even though he suspected. It’s not his sympathy for Lavanya. It’s his dig at Manali. Plain and simple. Lavanya specifically told him that “this is not her speaking this is me” . Arnav simply used this little piece of info to torture Manali.

He does hate Manali more than la. She was always the one putting weird ideas in Lavanya’s head like get in a pretend relationship and all. He also confessed he hated Manali a lot and now Lavanya had made that transition too.

edit - the last point about Khushi being the bottom of the priority. I don’t think that’s the case but he has a very twisted way of caring. Wouldn’t talk to her but protect her assets before himself. Misses her terribly but thinks he should let go because Khushi deserves a child. But I can agree with this POV in the sense that I can see how that may seem to be true.

I do think Arnav’s fear of fatherhood is about Anjali and her baby but something I feel about is the way his father berated him , he doesn’t want anymore responsibilities!! He thinks he is done with responsibilities which are so demanding anew. The very reason he denied Leher’s responsibility. He has a feeling that he will fail.

yeah I understand. But Arnav called it a superstitious fest. It doesn’t have to do with the October puja alone. Remember Khushi went to one in August 2014? He has the same reaction even then. Calls it a bull and absolutely refuses to go. Even fights with Khushi about it.

I will try to find her comment. It was something on the lines of Anjali coming into picture both in flashbacks and in future to drive Arshi story further.
