Aise comments toxic to hote hi hain aur privileged bhi. Anyway. Maine iska kyu example liya? Kyonki kuch logo ko wakai me aisa lagta hai ki agar kisi show ko ham critique karte hain to shayad hame aisa nahi karna chahiye aur apna TV band kar dena chahiye. Ye wahi wali baat hai ki aankh moond kar sab bardasht karo ya fir kahi gayab ho jao.

Fir bhi mai ye kahungi:

1) Pahle to pura ITV hi problematic hai. Ye mahaj ek bure show ki baat nahi hai. Lekin kuch shows hamare liye representative ban jate hain. Kabhi popularity ke karan, kabhi specific actor ke karan ya aise hi by chance. To aap usi ko centre me rakhkar critique karte hain. You know.. dusro desho me koi ye nahi kahta ki TV/movies me kuch problematic aa raha hai to us par sawal na karo, ise chaat pakauda samjhkar choice se kaam lo.

2) OTT platforms ke jamane me jahir si baat hai ki pure entertainment ke liye koi ITV nahi dekhege. Usually gharo me sari women milkar StarPlus ka show dekhti hain, na ki Netflix ka koi show. To ye shows families ko affect karte hain.

3) Personally ITV meri life me special position rakhta hai. I belong to a very conservative society. Mera pura bachpan/youth ghar me band rahkar gujra hai kyonki hamare side ladkiyon ko ghar se bahar aane jane par pabandi thi bahut. To hamare pas ITV shows ke siva escape ka dusra koi rasta nahi hota tha. Bitch ke kuch saalo me maine ye shows dekhne band kar diye. Per recently Ghum Show ke saath maine dubara in shows par zazar rakhna shuru kiya, taki ye jaan saku ki etne saal me TV par kuch badala ya nahi.

4) Present me mai ek ajnabi shahar me ek single women ke taur par rahti hu. Akele hi to apne samay ki khud malkin hu. Kaam niptane ke baad fix time par shows dekhti hu. Mere liye TV/shows/movies entertainment se kahi jyada Routine aur familiarity ka mamla hain. Sadly mujhe OTT contents bahut jyada Urban class aur fake lagte hain. Aur American/European/Turkish content bahut dekha hai. Par insaan foreigners ko dekh 2 kar bor hota hai. Wo apne jaise logo ko bhi parde par dekhna chahta hai. Iske alava... Kisi din baithakr 10 episode binge karne ki bajay roj 15 minute ek episode dekhna time ke hisab se bhi manageable hai.

To kul milakar... ITV mujh jaise laakho women ki life ko influence karta hai, to us par aane wali cheezo ka honest review jaruri hai. Maine apni life me DV/sexual assault ka samana kiya hai, aur TV par in sab cheezo ka majak banta hai. Aur aap jaiso ke liye ye sab mahaj entertainment ya choice ki cheeze hain.

Aap kah rahi Hain ki aapne bura lagne ki garaj se nahi kaha ye sab (very passive aggressive thing to say) lekin aapke man me kahi na kahi ye to baitha hua hai ki koi aapse different opinion kyo rakhta hai? Aapko to yahi chahiye ki ek jaise soch ke log present rahe, cheezo ko deeper angle se na dekha jaye kyonki kahi na kahi aap jaiso par bhi uska asar padta hai. Kyonki subconsciously aap log bhi janti hain ki ye sab Garbage hai.

Dusre desho me jab TV shows me violence ko justify karne ki koshish hoti hai to log etna jyada pressure create karte hain ki Production Houses ko maafi mangi pad jati hai. Aur we aisa kuch bhi dikhaane se bachte hain.

Par India me TV par kuch bhi dikha sakte hain. Kyonki uski jo prime audience hai, wo bahut jyada Passive/misogynist aur unkind hai.

Mai to ye soch rahi hu ki log mahaj ek show ke critique se irritate ho jate hain, wo apne ghar me kisi different opinion wale family members se kitna irritate hote honge? This also reflects people's ability to allow diversity to flourish.

I have never mocked those people who love these shows. Maine unhe personally tag karke kuch nahi kaha, kuch nahi pucha, koi personal observation kiya.

Maine sirf show ki kahani/uske character arc par baat ki.

To aap hi bataiye... Ki etna imbalance kyo hai? Jaise aap mujhse kah rahi ki mujhe ye show nahi pasand hai to mai kyo ye show dekh rahi, waise hi mere comment aapko pasand nahi to aap use ignore bhi to kar sakti hain? Kyo reply de rahi hain?

Kyonki... Frankly logo ko to ye life hi pasand nahi hoti to aap unse ye kahengi ki wo jeena chod de? Ham unlikeable cheezo ko bhi gracefully handle karne ki koshish to karte hi hain! Aur kyo na kare?

Also... Akele rahte hue.. mujhe ek routine ki tarah kuch shows ko follow karna, review karna achha lagta hai. Fellow members ke comments dekhna, shows ko leker baat karna thik lagta hai kyonki isse ek kism ke social connection ki feeling aati hai?

Aakhir me yahi kahungi ki etna Individualism aur etni selfishness thik baat nahi hai ki aap kisi cheez ko sirf "individual pasand/napasand" ke angle se dekhe aur dusre ke choices par sawal khade kare! I guess aapke liye fictional shows kahi jyada maayne rakhte hain bajay real people ke."

Hey Vidhi! Loved your answer! I wonder why people are not broadminded enough to accept other opinions. And I totally agree that these shows have an impact on the public perception. As you mentioned there are lots of youngsters out there who watch this show along with their mom's grandmas etc. Showing this type of male chauvinist content will only make them accept that this is the right way of doing things and these youngsters will fail to recognise abuse and will accept the same and suffer in the long run because they feel that this is right. Hence it is very essential to flag such content (for eg rape attempt, not allowing the FL to continue studies or work etc) on social media. People saying / arguing that others don't perceive the rape attempt shown earlier as an attempt to rape is extremely wrong for this reason. I just hope people do realise this and stop glorifying such rape attempts in the future. Both the producers/creatives and audience all included.

In fact I would suggest you post this on insta or Twitter to gain more visibility.

For another show, there was a concept of illegal surrogacy, everyone sent mass complaints. There was a whole campaign which went on for a month. Twitter was on fire.

Guess what happened? The show did not only retract the sequence but also supported the track saying since the deed was done by an established antagonist, it is assumed that it is not right. And what she did was wrong.

However, not a single scene was changed even after complaints.

I know it’s wrong and there’s a lot of illogical situations. I am not arguing about that. You don’t think these actors directors and PH know that? It’s all about the money at the end. They will show what gets the trp and that’s the end. There is no way you me or anyone can change the way ITV is.. unfortunately it’s been like that for a while now and these days it’s lacking creativity even more.

And these youngsters, if they were to pick these behaviours up from ITV they can easily pick it up from all the OTT shows too. There is definitely no scarcity for shows that showcase such characters. It’s even worst on OTT than here.

The reason I asked you what I asked was bcos you used some very strong words when you wrote the episode summary. For me there is nothing above my peace of mind. And if a show is causing so much disturbance it clearly is hurting your peace of mind.
