Just reading this at the airport… made me laugh. Have not had a chance to watch the episode. Am traveling on work again…maybe will catch up next week. But something I have been wondering…

One thing I fervently hope for is for Syed Mohammad Saab to write more romances … this is one writer who will only get better! It’s obvious he wrote Aliya very driven when it comes to work and confused when it comes to personal decisions- often a trait in male characters in stories. So many questionable actions by Aliya makes female audience almost unforgiving toward her. I am super curious if male audience react to her the same way? Or her innocent eyes and beauty make her forgiving…. just like hot male leads get excused for questionable characters they play!

I also wonder if Syed Saab wrote her more nuanced but Nadeem directed this character in a limited fashion.
As for Nadeem Baig, while I cannot fault his direction for most of the show, the fact that his next venture (he has worked with him before) is written by Khalil Rehman makes me wonder if he has understood the complexity of a balanced woman at all. A man who finds no problem directing a show written by a misogynist imho cannot really dig deep into the many layers of a woman trying to balance it all. Because the starting point of misogynistic writers with respect to women is “selfish” and “manipulative”. These traits often form the base of the women characters.

So I do wonder if Syed Saab actually wrote her more nuanced and Baig was unsuccessful in giving us that through his direction. Just a thought. Of course one only has to see Samiya and Shagufta characters to understand perspectives of strength in women which both Syed Saab and Baig nailed.

To me, Samiya represented quiet strength and Taniya outspoken strength.. Aliya should have been somewhere in between. I want to think that’s how she was written, but somewhere along the way Baig directed her like a typical male character… good looking and heavily flawed!

The way sajal delivered the line " Thanks for the coffee " with tears in those big eyes 👏

I think I am partial to Aliya and that's why I don't find her character "heavily" flawed. Yes she is impulsive, she completely messed up Asfar's birthday situation but I don't find her confused. She loves Salman and doesn't love Asfar - it's clear. She has some responsibilities towards her family especially towards her father and that's why she is keeping her love life secondary. And for the same reason I think she is not even selfish. If she was, she would have just married Salman and have a happy life with him, like who cares for the family home when her father himself asked her to let it go. But for her the home is synonymous to her father's pride. And I think she is right in putting her responsibility ahead of her one true love.

With Asfar, she always seems so shocked at his advances that she becomes speechless. Then there is this financial stability with Asfar which she can't ignore. With Salman, at this point I think she has tearfully let him go because she knows she can't commit to him and so she doesn't want to hold him back.

Manipulative - yes. With those big eyes and that face, any guy would get manipulated😆 Like Mrinmoyi asked in one of her posts why these two guys fell for her, is it just for her looks? I would say yes😉

Also I don't understand why Salman is angry at Asfar. Aliya is not giving him commitment, should not he be angry at her?😳

Like after a conversation with Asfar in the lift, Aaliya very well knows his intentions now.

Aaliya on the terrace asked something like, should we listen to our brain or emotions?

and Salman said, Brain.

I connect with Salman if I see someone is in a dilemma whether to choose me or someone who can benefit them, honestly, I will walk away for my sake and also to make it easier for them and I won't be bitter because it's ok, life happens.

and I believe everyone deserves someone who chooses them no matter what.

Though I 100% believe Saaliya are the end game.

I think Nadeem baig made Aliya insensitive buy showing her behave like clumsy and cute with Asfar. That made her typical leading on ladies.
