Had the same words been said by someone else, he would have had mobs outside his house and a dozen cases slapped against him for hurting religious sentiments. ...

Strange question...their critic would also be criticising those who - most probably and imo - iniciated/favoured/supported financially this movie...they may keep as quiet as the PM ... so what...there will be more movies where they could utter (loud) their comments 😉

He won't..he realized long back what SRK realized now 😉

I wonder why you compare a mere Indian voter with the PM of India... I also think that their job-profiles are different (although with Modi, I have some doubts).

Didn't like the movie..watched on OTT and couldn't finish..just like LSC and Gangubai.

And interestingly came across tweets of ex(?) SRK fans criticizing him when he tweeted for Parliament..like we even watched a crap like Pathan and praised it on SM just for him..and he does this !!!!

So ya such fans may have shown genuine love for him and the movie. And genuine dislike too when he acted against their wish

Your sarcasm makes me smile 😉well, there are fans and there are fans and then there are people who aren't even fans and still like SRK...go figure...

@ red: I would have bet that you wouldn't like Pathaan 😃

@ blue: yeah, of course, one can't expect all fans to have the intelligence to understand neither the tweet nor the reason for tweeting the way he tweeted it 😉

The box office collection was announced amid a massive backlash that the film is receiving.

Is this true? 😲

I think we must also keep in mind the budget and profit. It’s the profit that will declare movie a hit. Adipurush is made at double the budget of Pathaan yet collection is almost similar. Wondering if Adipurush will be profitable?

Compared to other PMs, Modi takes keen interest in showbiz. Reminds me of Nehru, Indira, ABV and Rajiv who were other PMs, known to mingle a lot with actors and taking interest in films or using actors or films to promote ideology.

BJP leaders are thanked in credits of Adipurush so the political angle was bound to get dragged somewhere.

Other PMs such as PVNR, MMS, Lal Bahadur, VP Singh, Chandrashekhar etc had hardly been known to be too media savvy or give bhaav to celebs.

frankly the hue and cry around TKF being made is shocking..it was a much milder depiction than what actually happened and the last scene which was on Girija Lal Tikku’s horrible death was also watered down as much as possible. My point is if we can watch movies glamourising gangsters and talking about PK and OMG..then why is there no place for a TKF in this country? Why do people want to brush all of this under the carpet.. let people watch everything and make an opinion for themselves..rowdy right is also a problem and loony left is also a problem..both sides need to come together to stop any kind of ban culture. As for Modi being tech savvy or media savvy..yep that’s true that he takes keen interest in film industry and perhaps recognises the powerful tool that it can become and can be leveraged…question is why is it a problem to make movies on any subject? I disliked Adipurush, I disliked Brahmastra, I disliked Pathaan, I disliked TJMM..but I am open to watching all of the above and I have watched all of them to have an opinion on them in the first place

Of course it is not the problem that TKF and TKS and other movies are made, the problem with both movies was the involvement of politics that wasn't only perceptible in the making of the movie but also when promoting the movie. It wasn't the subject that made them controversial movies...at least not for me.

And the question isn't, imo, to "make movies on any subject" but to involve politics (and religions have become political tools). And Modi doesn't "perhaps" recognise movies (and the filmindustry) as a "powerful tool" to propagate certain ideas, he uses this tool since years.

Also, the fact, that now the Adipurush filmmakers revise, change and re-release their movie is a sign that there are politics behind this movie (using/having used religion again).

I stopped taking you seriously when you said IMF and Morgan Stanley is also propagandist..so I honestly dont care what you think about Modi or movies or Adipurush or makers..we all hate this movie..that’s the bottom line..politics or not..it is Not a movie I want to support or endorse and I don’t see most people supporting it who are otherwise labelled Hindu terrorists in this forum 😆..I am not indoctrinated enough by any political party then 😆 and I believe most Indians can differentiate that..and that we are not brain dead ..but surprise surprise..we can like Modi and still dislike Adipurush..hence proven Rowdy right >>>>> Loony left 😉😆

Fine to get to know that you don't care what I think (although you give another impression) 😎

What an interesting statement to say "we can like Modi and still dislike Adipurush"...should I equate this with "we can dislike Modi and still like Pathaan"??? (No, I don't think that I should do that...)

I am not against TKF or for it as I have not yet seen it.

I just said Modi gets dragged in because he also has habit of naming films or meeting film stars and filmmakers.

Like earlier he had referenced Babubali in some tweet.

So he is bound to get mentioned.

I have no issues with a PM using cinema and mass media as a tool to propagate ideology etc. Nehru, Indira, Rajiv did it too.

Though I personally prefer more no nonsense PMs like PVNR, who focused on own work and never did gimmicks for PR nor indulged useless filmstars as much as Nehru or Modi do. I feel it is hard to take a leader seriously if he indulges court jesters too much beyond a limit. They should focus on their work.

I was not happy to see Modi attend weddings of Virushka, Nick and PC or their reception or whatever. Never seen past PMs attend every celeb wedding in town.

I feel Modi is over exposed and too much into PR. He seems like a limelight crazed person.

I have never liked these Rahul and Priyanka party or hobnob too much with celebs either. Priyanka especially was too much into party circuit till a few years ago. Nor I liked to see or read about Nehru indulging singers or actors.

My personal preference is for PM to maintain a certain seriousness to his persona. Reaching out to masses, being accessible is fine. Having own preferences on films or ideology is also fine. But no need to indulge celebs in sports or entertainment sector beyond a limit or govt to back films.

The BJP leaders who praised or blessed Adipurush should be mindful of what they did. Even many right wingers criticised them and said RW should NOT back films just because they hear it is based on Indian epics.

Indulging useless celebs and filmi lot, can backfire and often tarnishes own image or casts doubts on seriousness of leader.

In this sense I am happy other PMs except Nehru, IG, RG, ABV, Modi, never ever indulged celebs, singers or sports wale so much and so publicly and maintained a stoic and no nonsense image instead of flamboyant image, wannabe stars themselves.

Modi is indeed the biggest star of India since last 9 years. No two ways about it. And I bet he likes the attention he gets which is why he lands up at celeb weddings or gets into films or celeb controversies and has a theatrical and filmi style of speaking in rallies himself.
