Kuch ankahi makes much more sense when you will binge watch it.

I did it yesterday and the storyline made so much more sense.

This drama will have a cult following once it ends.

It's re-watch value is also high.

There are so many characters and watching just one episode per week makes us forget what happened to a character 2-3 episodes ago..binge watching helps more with these kind of dramas.

It is already being highly appreciated by sensible people. Once it ends people will binge watch it and it will definitely get cult following.

An excellent read

Why is the drama serial Kuch Ankahi breaking stereotypes of a typical Pakistani drama and what are the tiny tiny things adding up to the wholeness and incredible-mess of the drama?

The simple things that build up the general aesthetics of the drama like the old yet beautiful house, the simple furniture, the charpoys in the sehan, making doodh patti chai and parathas in the kitchen, no unnecessary display of orange juice on the breakfast table, the traditional attire and choorian, jhumkian adorned by the female cast, the hindu househelp in her sari, all of this and so many more things make the drama a pleasant watch.

Less glamour, more human.

The dialogues, casual banter, humorous arguments between lead characters, use of mahawrey, nit picking at each other, joking around, instead of chalaakian and sinister plots being made and insults thrown at each other is also such a breath of fresh air.

The way the characters hang around in the sehan at night or on the chatt with chai, the way they sit together and have breakfast or all come out when there’s a commotion in the house, late night talks sitting in bed with unmade hair or taking each others side in front of parents, all of it depicts a true middle class family and living.

The best thing though, the one that totally made me swoon is the ultimate and total and unbreakable trust the father has in his daughters, come what may.

It is so refreshing to see a father not holding his chest to fall and then die when something is wrong.

The way he defends them, takes their side and never questions their decisions and actions is beautiful.

The male characters all of them have played an encouraging, supportive person in their female counterparts’ lives and that is again such a change from the usual thappar maar ke ghar se nikaal diya guy roles in other dramas.

Vaneeza Ahmed and the way she fights with her brother but is also concerned for him, the support she shows her nieces, the way she wholeheartedly takes the responsibility of a young boy and his education is also not the typical phuppo we see in other dramas.

Mira Sethi as the quiet, submissive daughter and her way of handling a dominating mother in law might be a bit far from reality but it sure is again a fresh perspective from the usual mother in law and daughter in law cat fights resulting in broken homes and ruined relationships.

I think the director has also touched upon something that is very normal but seldom talked about i.e. a dominating mother’s everlasting effects on her son, causing to shatter his confidence and confuse his personality.

Azfar and his own set of problems from the past and the way he retaliates to anyone and anything nice in his life has maybe been shown before but let’s see how it progresses because honestly this new love triangle and the fighting over the protagonist Aaliya is the only thing I feel is unnecessary in the drama.

All the other characters also in their own way add to the experience of a middle class family with no sons and lots of problems, trying to wade through life and whatever is thrown their way, never leaving each others side.

Critics might argue that a lot in this drama is too good to be true like Salman’s mother always making him see how chauvinistic his actions are towards Aaliya and when he is over reacting, how the phuppo is always on her niece’s side and living for months with a bhabi and bhai or how a cruel mother in law gradually changes but again when we have things like a saas poisoning her bahu or a man killing his wife happening in other dramas, which are real but maybe we do not need such gruesome reminders in dramas too, then these lighthearted, comic, dramas are EXACTLY what we need to watch at the end of a tiring day. Period.

Maybe this drama will never reach the heights of publicity other trashy dramas like Tere Bin are enjoying but all good things in life are seldom popular, however they sure leave a mark on your heart and mind and put you at ease in the end .. ❤️

Salman don't have chauvanist view and him taking a stand for tanya clearly shows it. He is simply a normal guy in love who is panicking that the girl he loves will choose a better option over him.

I will also binge watch it when it's over. I am anyway watching it weekly. Only 3-4 episodes left that's like a month to go.

Phupho is right here when she said everyone thinks of Salman as family and everyone only listen to him including aagaji. In the last epsiode aagaji listened to salman when he said he wont let anything happen to Aaliya or Tanya and Aaliya also called him her family.

Everyone in the family is well aware of Salman 's feelings for Aaliya and phupho and aaghaji knows their laadli in and out.

Salman is already a family member. Agar koi mana karega it will be shammo begum probably because asfar would propose as well.

I guess shammo's hesitation will finally make almas realise why exactly his son is insecure and it has nothing to do with Aaliya's professional success.

Shammo will learn her lesson only when she sees samiya coming back home.
