Now, the first inning's score will be above 500 for sure! It means, our batters' first target will be to avoid follow-on; they have to score 300+ ! The batsmen will be under pressure.

I am sorry to say that Jadeja is a t 20 or 1 day player, not a test player.

Ashwin has that patience and persistence when comes to test

He loves test matches

He arts the ball spinning

Will do any trick to get batsman under control

How blind are selection committee

To me it’s pure politics otherwise same mistake cannot be repeated after loosing last trophy to NZ
didn’t aspect this from Rohit and dravid

It looks like Indian selectors and captain have ruffled so many feathers.

WTC is the ultimate Championship and needed lot of attention when preparing for the match.

While Aussies are acclimatising themselves to English conditions, we are busy playing IPL IPL. That shows where our priorities lie.

Or may be it is ICC's ploy to favour Aussies by scheduling the match soon after IPL. They are already not happy with BCCI for the way they are minting money with this golden goose called IPL.

That is the reality and we have to face it.

Cheers..

Ashwin definitely takes a few important wickets.

If not wickets, Ashwin bowls many maiden overs. And he finishes his overs quickly also.

Now the Indian batsmen have a mountain to climb with such a huge score to defend.

Day 1---

Travis Head scored a century while Steve Smith inched closer to his own ton as Australia remained in control against India at the end of Day 1. Head and Smith kept Australia ticking, posting 327/3 at stumps after India had struck an early blow after lunch when Mohammed Shami snapped up Marnus Labuschagne.

Earlier, Australia had scored 73/2 at lunch at the Oval on Wednesday. India took out the on-song David Warner at 43 right before the break, while Usman Khawaja fell for a duck courtesy of Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj respectively. This was after Rohit Sharma and Co. left out the world’s top-ranked Test bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin, and have decided to bowl first in the World Test Championship Final against Australia.😔

India and Australia will compete for the greatest prize in Test cricket as the two face off in the second World Test Championship Final. The five-day one-off Test match has a reserve day in place in case rain intervenes, just like it did the last time when India played New Zealand in 2021 at Southampton.

How the Indian pacers might have missed a trick on Day 1

There’s been movement on offer for sure from the Indian pacers, especially Shami and Siraj, but they haven’t been able to extract the most from the surface at The Oval. Especially with the uneasy bounce there for the taking: “It’s the bent knee from Shami, Siraj and Umesh. Traditionally at The Oval, you get a higher bounce. From their lower trajectory, they might be swinging the ball but they’re not getting any extra height,” said Justin Langer on the Star Sports broadcast.

It does not look decision keeping in mind for the team ...if thought about team and winning...they would not have benched Ashwin...Everywhere there is criticism for this

Such things come out after years...not immediately...

If i had to choose one spinner then definitely would have chosen Ashwin over Jadeja..on the basis of experience

If they can't choose between these two then there was no need of Umesh or Shardul

Seniors commentators everyone questioned the decision of leaving Ashwin...They said - ONLY INDIA CAN DO IT....unless someone who has the final say in selection does this blunder...there is no way Ashwin is benched in such critical match...

That person does not know the statistics against Australia

this was very clear cut clean matter...

I am not saying Ashwin will make the team win or he is the only one to save...But He could have 100% pressurized Australia top ranking batsman...as he has proved in the past...there is no need to give proof for this..

What explanation the selection committee has ...

Even pitch report was telling that spinners will have role in later innings...
