Why Do We Throw Graduation Caps.png

Some people may say it's a celebration 🍾 for Graduates to start a new chapter of life and enjoy this tradition.

Some may say that it is disrespect and it should be respected similarly to how we respect books 📚

What's your take.

Would you toss your hat for a click of the camera? 📷 📸

I can't remember which, but I'm sure they have shown this in bolly films or have they not. I can't recall.

😆So much thought over the tossing of a hat? That is reused every year? No damaging effect on the environment, or anyone’s physical health either? Man I can’t even tell if this is satire tbh😆

Believe it..

I have seen convos regarding this.. 😝😄

It's more based on the emotions, rather than a physical harm or environmental effect.

Naturally it's stirred sentiments and some places have banned this tradition.

This is something I am getting to know for the first time that a thing like graduation hat tossing exists in educational institutions.

But it looks cool and fun.

It is a perfectly valid question.....Tossing of hats is more of a sentiment....

If someone puts their feet on a book and takes a pic....will that be offensive....to me it would be.....putting the feet on a book does no damaging effect on the environment and physical health either and the book could still be used.......We all are a product of our environments......while the feet on a book may mean nothing to someone from another culture....for me and many others.....they are considered like Goddess Saraswati and its a disrespect......if I touch a book with my feet on accident or it falls on the ground...I immediately pick it up and touch it to my forehead...

I know hat tossing is discussed here in the Western world because it is a part of the School/College culture here.

On topic....Yes I am all for hat tossing.....it is a symbol of your success.....how you completed your class and taking your next step forward.....no disrespect is meant...

I have attended many graduation ceremonies here in USA and seen it....

I’m sorry but hat does not equal book. Books are representative of an education and knowledge. And I think all desis will relate to respecting books. Putting your foot on it can damage it, make it unusable. What is the issue with the hats? Apples and pears.

On a side note, Muricans legit need any excuse to toss a hat. Like why is your kid tossing a hat for completing KG for God’s sake?😆

The grad hat 🎓 is a representation of an achievement. A blessing so to speak.

And it's not about the hat more so for the reason of it similarly to books only that the books contain the educational text.

That was beautifully explained.

I also think it's fun and usually a once in a life time chance.
