Part 1 - A new beginning
Veer was pacing in his room after coming back from gurudwara. Veer was the most loved kid in the third generation of Brar family. He received love from everyone including Bawejas and Sandhus mainly because he has always kept to himself and never interfered in others life. Though his own family and his Angad Paaji belongs to different category. He always kept busy himself either in work or spend his free time investing in music which was his passion. Life was smooth for brars till Angad paaji’s wedding day. A day which was supposedly be the most happiest day in there life turned into horror. Veer adored his elder cousin brother. Angad means a lot to him. A brother, a father figure, a guide, a mentor and much more. It hurt him to see Angad in pain. He also felt bad for his Sahiba bhabhi who had to bare all the consequences & hatred due to the actions of her mother and sister. He has always respected Sahiba bhabhi. Be it for her talent or for her bravery for standing up for truth. If Sahiba was a con then she wouldn’t have revealed herself before marriage and exposed her family’s wrong doings in front of everyone. It required a lot of courage. And he respected that. He knew both Angad and Sahiba doesn’t deserves this. Somehow they both needed to be out of this mess. He really wanted things to get better and be normal for his paaji and bhabhi. On the auspicious day of Baisakhi he really wanted his brother and sister in law to start a fresh. He really hoped bhabhi standing up for paaji and saving him from getting hurt will change angad’s view on Sahiba. Maybe he should actually help them somehow. But how? Maybe he should take keerat’s help. The thought of Keerat brought a smile on his face. Veer felt like a new beginning is happening to himself too. Till today morning if someone said keerat’s name or a thought of hers can bring a smile on his face then he would have declared it as a joke. For sure she had unknowingly impressed him from there first meeting. He had never seen a girl with such physical strength & the fact that she mentioned it’s the outcome of hard work has actually impressed him. He always liked hard working people. Each time they met she had unknowingly left an impression on him. Especially at the night she sneaked inside Brar mansion to give art supplies to Sahiba bhabhi. Her loyalty, dedication & love for bhabhi was so evident in that daring act. Morning after talking with bhabhi about her gave him a clear picture. He admired her after learning her ambitions. He liked ambitious women unlike women in his own house who prefer to be home makers despite of having high educational qualifications. This all were the reasons to give in for her strange demands to help her to meet bhabhi.
Todays meeting at gurudwara changed everything. He was initially astonished by keerat’s weird demand to meet her immediately outside gurudwara. He thought something really is important but only to get surprised when she offered him Prasad. And he was even more surprised when she forcefully fed him. He could clearly see she was upto something & it was confirmed when she accidentally blurted till Sahiba di says you will not be allowed to go. Despite of all the rowdiness she shows outside she is as innocent as a child from inside. So he too played along. They were waiting for sometime till when they heard ruckus in front of gurudwara. Keerat suggested that they go and see what’s happening there and without waiting for his response she started moving. He had no other go rather than following her. They both were stunned to see when some goons were trying to attack paaji. Thanks to keerat’s presence of mind she was fast enough to stop them and to beat the pulp out of them for there misbehaviour. He knew she was a trained wrestler and she aspired to become a national level wrestling champion. But that was the first time he was seeing her in action. He could see even Angad paaji was a bit bewildered seeing her stunts. He was mind blown seeing her fighting and her bravery to stand up for righteousness. What touched him was when she left all that and ran towards bhabhi after bhabhi got hurt. At that moment he could see her first most priority was to go see if bhabhi was fine or not. Once she felt bhabhi was fine and under there care she went back to see the goons. Even though paaji asked him to go get the car he couldn’t just like that leave Keerat. He was surprised to see Keerat had tied the goons and called police. At her age the maturity and bravery she showed was outstanding. He was actually surprised when she corrected those women that good guys do exist. At that moment he was in awe with her. He remembered there cute conversation following the ladies left.
Keerat: hello, veer duniya Ka aathva ajooba nahi hoon mujhe toh Aise dekh rakhi Ho.
Veer: Muhje to lag raha Hai Tum Ho. ( at that moment that’s what he felt and he couldn’t help but to be brutally honest to her)
Keerat: Kya Bhola
(Veer smiled seeing her trying to suppress her smile by faking anger. It was so evident but her struggle to suppress it made him smile.)
Keerat: Tum Mera mazak udarahi Ho Kya?
Veer: mein toh theek se pathang thakh nahi uda Saktha mazak toh Bahuth dhor ki baath Hai. Agar mein tumara mazak udhatha Tum muhejey marmarke Bhooth nahi Bhanatha?
(Keerat unknowingly smiled. He could see all her struggles to control it had gone unknowingly. And she looked very pretty when she smiled. )
Veer: main toh buss itna poochna chahthi hoon Keerat pehelwan Tum itna kuch Kaise karlethi Ho?
Keerat: Karke dikhaon?
(Oh no! No ways! Even Though he knew she was just being mischievous. And she looked damn cute.)
Veer: Aaj Ke Liye Bahuth Ho Gaya. Phir Kabhi! Kisi aur par.
He went to get water for her. He stood and looked her with lots of admiration & affection that he didn’t even listen properly what she was saying to him till she shook him and came back to reality. He was hell embarrassed to get caught by her & he sheepishly smiled to hide his embarrassment
Veer: Yehi Kahi Hogi
Keerat: Yehi kahi hogi mathlabh? Jab mein uss gundoko khooth Rahi thi Tum kaha the? Kisse dekh Rahe the?
Veer: Tume
(He himself was so surprised that he actually blurted out truth. He could see even she was so surprised and he couldn’t stop smiling seeing her surprised face. But she was fast enough to hide her initial surprise and to go back to pehlwan mode. He so not want to meet the pehelwan in her in person.)
Veer still couldn’t stop smiling remembering there latest conversation. It’s true that he has never seen a girl like Keerat and he will never find one like her. She is brutally honest. No one has ever said his flaws on the face. Belonging to the reputed Brar family he has received only appreciations from both inside and outside the family. Though he himself was aware of his shortcomings it was Keerat who addressed it on his face ever since there first meeting. And that’s what attracted him towards her along with her physical strength. He has slowly started liking the cute and weird nicknames she has given to him. After the gurudwara incident veer realised that he has fallen for Keerat. He murmured to himself “ veer better control yourself. You seriously don’t want to meet the pehelwan in her in person. Better at the moment concentrate on paaji & bhabhi. Help them out to solve the mess. And then you can concentrate on Keerat.” Veer remembered how he saved himself from getting punched from her after there last conversation. Somehow he managed to take her to go and look around paaji and bhabhi. Both of them were clueless when they found paaji and bhabhi with Garry bro. Veer knew his Garry bro rarely comes to gurudwara. Not even on festival days. So Garry’s presence there looked odd. By going the trios face something unpleasant had happened. Veer did tried to ask them but all the three chose to brush him off. Veer was determined to speak with Keerat soon and to sort out the mess going on.
At the same time in Monga house
Keerat too was pacing in her room. Her head was paining badly. Life was never easy for her. She was the youngest in Monga siblings. When it is believed that youngest kid is the most pampered one in her case it was just the opposite. She was the most ignored child of her parents. She had heard from her mother that her third pregnancy was actually accidental. Both Ajeet and Santosh Monga didn’t want a baby for third time. They didn’t chose to abort the child owing to there own traditional beliefs. Both her parents were much disappointed to have a girl child for the third time. As if two girls were not sufficient she was born as a burden. Not much time after her birth her father had lost his stable job due to some misunderstanding and ego of a rich family. Her father always valued honesty and self esteem and owing to his own principles he chose to run a small food stall rather than begging in front of people who wronged him. This didn’t go well with her mother. The day to day struggles irked her. Her father was busy in work to bring stability in there life. Her mother was always busy pampering her first born seerat di who is blessed with immense beauty. Her mother always believed seerat’s beauty will bring fortune to there family. Her Taiji was busy in her son and tauji who is an artist worked hard so that he could provide his nieces a better life. Little Keerat was left under the care of young Sahiba. Thus Sahiba became everything for her. A wonderful elder sister, a mother, a friend, a guide, a confident and her world. For Sahiba Keerat was an angel send by god to compensate all her misery given by her own family. It will not be wrong to say when everyone in the Monga house was busy with there own priorities Sahiba and keerat made a small world for themselves. Keerat had an inclination towards sports at a very young age. Her Tauji helped her by giving professional training in karate, wrestling, gatka, archery & jujutsu. They got there first blow in there life 5 years back when her Papaji and Tauji met with road accident. Tauji died on the spot and her papaji was severely injured. Keerat was only 14 at that time. The entire family went into a huge shock. Seeing the financial situation of the family Babblu paaji chose to marry his girlfriend and take over his wife’s familial catering business and settle in his sasural. More than tauji’s unexpected death it was babblu paaji’s selfishness that hurt Sukhi tai the most. Sahiba di was just 18. Di was going to join the fine arts college but the financial condition of the house didn’t support di to pursue her dreams to study. Seerat di who was a below average student was doing final year graduation in a posh college. Seerat di refused to give up her posh college and join a local college. Keerat was ready to leave school but Sahiba di was adamant that Keerat will at least have basic education as she is a school topper. Her heart was torn when she saw her di leaving her education and taking over there family art shop. Keerat vowed to herself that once she finishes her studies even if she had to do odd jobs she will send her Sahiba di for completing her studies. To put less burden on Sahiba she willingly left karate, jujutsu & archery. She concentrated mainly on wrestling and she was also part of Ludhiana’s gatka team. Wrestling and gatka were comparatively cheap in Ludhiana. After school she used to go to her friends dad’s workshop and did a part time job so that at least her sports fee can be paid by herself and Sahiba di has not to worry. Her tomboyish nature and pehelwan attitude has actually helped as she many male friends who taught her driving and after she reached 18 & obtained her driving license she did part time job in driving school as an instructor. Her mother believed Keerat is loafing around with her friends instead she was doing odd jobs to help her di. There life had stability till the intervention of rich diamond merchant brar family. Seerat di was obsessed with marrying there heir apparent Angad Singh Brar. Santosh Monga made sure everyone played along even if they don’t want to by attempting suicide. Everyone had to be the part of scam despite there own consciousness warned them not to in the fear of losing Santosh. The wedding day became the worst nightmare as seerat di ran away at the last moment and Sahiba di was forced to replace the bride. Di fed up with the charade revealed every truth. Keerat too revealed what all she knew. Despite of every revelation di was forced into an unwanted marriage. Keerat for the first time in her life felt so miserable and helpless. She very well knew di agreed to marry a person whom she disliked the most only to save the honour of there family and mostly for her future. That was the first time Keerat felt herself as a burden. If at all she didn’t exist Sahiba di wouldn’t have to marry a man she loathed. Even if her di didn’t reveal herself she knew how badly her di is treated in Brar mansion. Every anger they felt towards Monga family Sahiba has to bare it. She couldn’t completely blame brars too. They have been badly conned by her mother and seerat di. They all have silently stood for what so ever reasons. But there inhuman behaviour towards di is so unacceptable. Had seerat di revealed with whom she eloped at least Sahiba di would get free from blame and get respect. Things were not normal for Keerat too. Where ever she went everybody mocked her and taunted her for seerat di’s actions. Her friends were asked to stay away from her as the parents felt Keerat too might trap guys into a marriage like seerat. It still hurt her that her Sahiba di has stuck in a loveless marriage. Keerat never understood the concept of love and marriage. She never wanted to get married in her life. She knew no one would accept her the way she is. Apart from Sahiba di not even her own family members have accepted her the way she is. Then how can she expect someone else or some other family accept her? Her biggest dream was to conduct her Sahiba di’s marriage. She wanted to work hard and save money for her di’s marriage & make that day special and memorable for both. But thanks to her mummy and seerat di. Even her that dream is being snatched away. If things had to be normal seerat di should reveal about her lover. Sahiba di said she will confront that guy at gurudwara. What was garry doing there? Why was Sahiba di thanking atm for giving her a second chance? Oh Teri! Does that mean garry was the guy seerat di involved with? Keerat remembered when seerat was going on a date with Angad she was teased by some guys and how she had to interfere. Garry was there too. When she was injured seerat di left with garry what was garry doing there when seerat di was supposed to be on a date with Angad? She remembered how seerat di spoke so high about Garry being her saviour and blamed Keerat. She too noticed Garry’s absence on the wedding day. Keerat was getting really angry on seerat. She couldn’t believe seerat’s audacity to play with two brothers at a time. Keerat knew she had to collect solid proofs otherwise no one will believe about Garry’s involvement. She knew she cannot interact with Sahiba di much. Maybe she will need to take veer’s help. Keerat herself recognised how her body suddenly electrified by the thought of veer. Veer Singh Brar was different from the guys she had known so far. Veer despite belonging to such rich family he is much down to earth. He is so humble & polite. He is not class conscious unlike his other family members. He is not judgemental and he is open to see and listen others perspectives. A great singer and huge admirer of art Keerat didn’t wonder much why her Sahiba di bonded well with veer so fast. An artist to another artist has a special connection. Keerat even though never voiced it out she is very much thankful to veer for being there for Sahiba di in that zoo. She actually don’t know by giving what she can thank him for helping her to meet her di at these circumstances. She knew even though veer is bewildered by her he manages to say something that will make her struggle to suppress her smile and at times he does manage to make her blush. Even today at gurudwara after the arrest of the goons the way he looked at her made her blush. She was struggling at her best not to blush or even if she did she didn’t want it to be so obvious. For the first time in life she was scared to interact with a guy. She hit her own head for her overloaded unwanted thoughts. She muttered to herself. “ focus Keerat focus. Your only priority is to help Sahiba di and help her to have an easy life. You need to stop overthinking. Unwanted stress is making you think about something which doesn’t exist. “ Keerat thought she will speak with Sahiba di once about Garry but then she thought she herself had to be sure. After all garry is di’s brother in law. If by any minimal chance if it’s not Garry and someone else came to know about this di will be in more trouble. Keerat heard her phone ringing. She went to lift her phone. She was surprised to see it’s veer who is calling her. She unknowingly smiled & attended the call in her usual chirpy voice.
Keerat: hello Lallu Lal ji!
Veer smiled listening to her happy voice. He himself wondered how her chirpy voice had soothed him & took away all his tension.
Veer: hello pehelwan ji. Actually I wanted to speak with you regarding paaji and bhabhi.
Keerat : even I want to speak regarding the same.
Veer: Keerat do you know about the guy with whom seerat ji eloped? Did seerat ji said something to you?
Keerat was not sure, should she share her suspicions with veer? But she soon chose not to. First of all Sahiba di didn’t want veer to be involved in this because of which she had to keep veer away from them. Second thing is she herself is not sure & don’t have solid proofs. She could ask Sahiba di directly but yet she chose not to. Knowing her di she would have herself shared if she wanted to.
Keerat: veer we all tried multiple times seerat di is refusing to reveal the guy’s name. I feel like she has a valid reason. Maybe she has been threatened by the guy himself or by someone else. Knowing her she is not going to reveal.
Veer felt like another dead end.
Veer: Keerat do you have any idea what was garry bro doing at gurudwara? Did bhabhi said something to you? He is not the types who visit gurudwara. I did tried to ask paaji, bhabhi and Garry bro. They are not giving a valid answer which make me quiet suspicious.
Keerat felt like she had lost her breath. What all veer said made her feel like her suspicions turning into reality.
Keerat: see veer at the moment you forget all this. We need to find the guy with whom seerat di eloped. We have to gather solid proofs. Then only my Sahiba di can get some peace at your house. She doesn’t deserve this punishment for what seerat di and lover did. Listen I have a plan. You meet me at Central Park in an hour.
Veer: ok.
Note: Angad & Sahiba will be in action at next part. I wanted to include them here but it became too long than expected. All other three parts will equally belong to Angad Sahiba and veer Keerat. I wanted a strong base before i started with investigation and truth revelation. at the present situation veer and keerat are teaming up to help Sahiba & Angad. I felt in show it was left like a open end and not explored or utilised the characters potential. I took so long for me to write this. As I said I am writing after a long. Hope it turned out well.
