Damn the casting crew seems so close knitted. I’ve never seen Aish so comfortable with her co-stars compared to this. 🥺

I wasn't the first one who made a personal comment on anyone but wont keep quiet if someone tries to be pricky with me either :D I am on this forum for more than 12 years now =)) I know the rules

Actors are here to be discussed. The actor I mentioned is known as a representative of Bandar Sena in the film , something which the actor himself says in the film :)

I watched the movie with my husband and my daughter who is a teenager living in the US. We are Tamilians and only I have read the novel in Tamil growing up in India during School and College. I had to brief the gist to my husband and my daughter. My daughter insisted to read the book after watching the 1st part, so we downloaded the English version and she completed the book in a week’s time. Also my husband and I could follow the dialogues in Tamil, we didn’t need to read the subtitles whereas our daughter relied on it and asked us for clarification where needed.

Now coming to the review, all 3 of us loved the movie so much, there was not a dull moment. MR and his team have made few changes from the book but I am perfectly ok with it as I know the history of Cholas from School. Even Kalki added lot of fictional characters to his book, so MR cutting down on some of them was perfectly fine and it is not possible to shoot a movie of a Novel which has 5 parts, He changed the ending too which is what originally happened during Chola times as opposed to what Kalki wrote in the book. Everybody did their part splendidly and even after watching the first part was thoroughly impressed with the casting,

This story did not need Superstars to rake in money because story is the Superstar. Leaving that aside, Aishwarya Rai was the perfect choice for Nandini, So was Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayaram and others.

Visuals, Costumes, jewelry, sets, shot mostly outdoors so locations were spectacular. I don’t watch too many BW movies these days and even many larger than life regional movies but I was always wanting to see this movie.

My husband and I are in the minority, we liked this movie franchise better than Bahubali simply because we like subtle cinema, natural visuals and locations with not too OTT scenes and .screenplay. You need a special kind of taste to watch movies like PS which is way different from Bahubali or KGF which were not our cup of tea.

There were so many highlights throughout the movie

- Nandini- Aditha Karikalan final meeting before he dies- Vikram- Aishwarya owned it and the chemistry between these 2 actors was mind blowing

- Kundavai - Vandhiyadevan meeting scene after Arunmozhi Varman is saved

- Vandhiyadevan trying to stop Nandini from killing Aditha Karikalan and his helplessness when he could not save him

- Aditha Karikalan, Kundavai, Arunmozhi Varman’s meeting scene after both the older siblings come to know younger brother Arunmozhi Varman is alive. Siblings bond was amazing and very heartwarming. The way Aditha Karikalan hugged Kundavai and Arunmozhi Varman is still playing in my mind.

- Arunmozhi Varman’s poise - Jayam Ravi nailed it. He is the perfect Ponniyin Selvan

This is easily one of Aishwarya’s best role and acting in her career and I have been watching her since Iruvar.

I could go on and on but going to stop here and end by saying I am planning to watch it again once it releases on Amazon Prime,

Absolutely Ash has always been super comfortable with Mani Ratnam and family and his technicians. She has also been quite close to Vikram.

It was great to see her getting a long with everyone she was even pulling Kathi and Ravi legs too during Anupama 's interview. Except with Bhansali and a little bit of Hrithik she always is quite polite and does not show the fun part. It's actually nice to see her goofy side but she still has that very annoying giggle. In fact post COVID after the whole botox family drama its nice to see her enjoying herself with PS2 cast.

I think the reason Ash is super comfortable with her south co actors and folks and some Hollywood folk (Cannes and loreal) are i think she was always cast in their movies or asked to model or represent the brand irrespective of what happened in her personal life. While in Bollywood either she was shunned after the whole Salman fiasco or she was welcomed and fawned over when she was a Bachchan bahu.

I loved it to the core. It's beautifully made. This book was the first fiction I ever read and initiated imaginations in me.

For me the apt choice is Kaarthi as Vanthiathevan ( someone called him here as Bandhar guy)..there won't be any girl/ women/ man in Tamilnadu who didn't fell in love with Vanthiathevan when they read the book and there is no one in tamilnadu who dislikes Kaarthi. I have heard people disliking Surya but definitely not karthi.

This story is written originally from Vanthiathevan 's point of view..this story hero is Vanthiathevan. Not anyone else.He will narrate the story and his journey introduce us all the characters. And Vanthiathevan was my first teenage crush.I imagined many actors, but karthi is just lovely.

I liked everyone..but I didn't like how Athiya karikalan was interacting with Nandhini in the climax..whoever knows whose the real Athithya karikalan won't prefer Kalki version of him..he was the greatest ruler of chozhas and he was never a love sick puppy.. but still it's a fiction and I had to let it go and did the same now.

I should say Aishwarya had aged gracefully and I wanted her to do many such aged rules.

But OMG Vikram is ☺️❤️....of everyone I loved Vikram .It's Vikram & ARR s show..

The reason will be very much visible in our forum ..people are very critical and always open a topic which degrades or pull down anyone's image here.like Ash said " people are very much opinionated than welcoming".. For them Ash is a beauty, but in Tamil industry the love never vanishes.Down the South they can understand that Ash is 50 years old and give credits for what she is..in short people actually knows to respect others from the heart ❤️..South people are not much critical too..
