The idea of awards for movies is to recognize quality and not popularity. Hollywood has People’s Choice Awards and MTV Movie awards for popular movies. That doesn’t mean we’ll always agree on who wins the Oscar, or the Batra, or Sundance, or recognized as the best at Cannes. But by not going the Filmfare way they’ve maintained their credibility and respect with the audience and the industry.

Remember the Moonlight vs La La Land mix up a few years ago? Mistakes were made during presentation but it was fixed immediately. I mean literally while La La Land people were giving their speech Academy Officials walked on stage and started telling the cast and crew it was not them. Do you ever see Filmfare correcting an actor, a senior artist at that, if they make a mistake like this? 😆
