RRR also released to full occupancy btw, there was no way SSR would release his mega budget movie on 50% occupancy which was why he postponed his movie from Jan to feb?

and as for Alia, well she was just coming from Sadak and Kalank while SLB was coming from 3 back to back blockbusters. But I never said Alia didn’t do a good job and it was indeed a team work but it was her PR who tried to make people believe otherwise. Some of us are just bringing back the home truths to light.

I haven’t watched Gangubai. I haven’t watched a lot of movies this year. But I have seen enough Alia Bhatt movies where I can comfortably say that the likelihood that Alia’s was the absolute best performance in a Hindi movie in the year 2022 is very slim. Unfortunately a lot of Hindi entertainment awards is skewed in favor of the popular artist more than the deserving artist. A lot of it is also PR driven. There’s also the angle of Jitesh favoring her. She’s got a lot of advantages here so it’s not particularly surprising that she’s winning. But I disagree with the notion that she absolutely 100% deserved this.

Alia winning Best Actress for Gangubai this year makes total sense because she was arguably the best amongst the "A-Listers".

But that said, it's absolutely blatant that her movies are being favoured in even the technical categories. They always do, even during Gully Boy. Had she not been in that movie, it wouldn't have won so many of the technical awards, let's not dismiss that. So I get where the TM's frustration comes from.

As talented as Alia might be, her being put on a pedestal by everyone, the overhyping and sucking up to her because everyone wants to get into KJo's good books, her getting movies on a chaandi ki thaali and the blatant favouritism towards her in the industry makes it hard to root for her sometimes, even if she might be deserving. And I'm sorry, but she seemingly enjoys that, which was clear from that KWK episode with Ranveer where she was kind of being a brat 😬

She did her best tho. Why so much hate ?

Jab koi accha kaam kar raha toh we all should appreciate.

If she won't we won't as well.

Alia winning Best Actress Award for GullyBoy was the most undeserving and problematic win ever for Filmfare.🤓 Anyways, Filmfare lost their credibility ages ago TBH.

But Alia winning for Gangubai is a well-deserved victory.👍🏼

And I don't think other categories have anything much to do with Alia.

Alia had a fantastic year in 2022, both personally and professionally. She had Gangubai with SLB, Brahmastra with Ranbir, Darlings on OTT, (another good performance) and she had an extended cameo in RRR, which is the biggest film of 2022 and has become one of the biggest Indian films of all time. She also got married and had her daughter..👍🏼
