My ranking:

1. Evil Dead 2 - Perfect mix of humour, goofiness and seriousness.

2. The Evil Dead - The horror scenes and special effects look dated now but the campy feel is still good.

3. Evil Dead (2013) - Liked the seriousness of the movie which came back to the franchise after Army of Darkness.

4. Evil Dead Rise - This and 2013 reboot are pretty close in quality for me.

5. Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness - Became very goofy. Didn't like it much with Ash turning into an asshole.

Haven't watches the series.

First would be Evil Dead 2 . Then Evil Dead 1 . That's it . Distant third may be Ash vs Evil Dead so to say but that's it . Rest I din't liked (or abandoned mid-way) . While the latest 2023 one I am yet to watch .

I’ve only watched Evil Dead (2013) and this years release. The 2013 one had way more gore and was creepier. The recent film was okay. The possessed lady was scary even before she became a demon lmao. Story was meh. I was a bit stressed, had my eyes closed during the cheese grater scene, but overall it’s a one time watch.

Have never seen the movies. Though the only memory I have of Evil dead is- when people used to say, jo ye movie theatre mei akele beth ke end tak dekh lega usey inaam milega. 😆😆 Gawd! I literally believed them and never gathered enough courage to watch it. 😆

Heard this catchphrase from my uncle when he was bragging about to have done so .

Very probably a promotional strategy . Though also , there was rarely any good freaky BW horrors like it till then . May be all this explains why it was a big deal here then . Idk .

You should watch the old ones. They have their own charm and style of humour. Yeah 2013 film had more gore than the new one.

They're not spooky or jumpscare kind of horror. They're slasher films with lots of gore and bloodshed. And after watching the Saw movies, the guts and blood in any other series pales in comparison for me.😆

lmao. I would’ve jumped out of the window in the first few minutes of seeing her possessed state. Mum or not, I no longer identify as her daughter. ✌🏼
