I have seen humsafar and ZGH they badly had any romantic scenes. Leads would just sit next to each other and talk. But in TB we got any unexpected scenes. I'm not comparing with any itv show but the chemistry level is solid which does gave me itv vibes at the beginning even though everything is different.

No it was aired. There was nothing in the content to ban, The channel probably met with PEMRA and did whatever paper work they wanted, Also, DNUTN was produced by Kashf Foundation - a well know NGO. They probably used their connections to get PEMRA to back off.

PEMRA has a history of doing this with TV shows that mention social issues.

  • Udaari. Udaari was the first drama serial to bring sexual harassment, child abuse and rape to Pakistani screen. After the telecast of the first few episodes, Hum TV received a show-cause notice from PEMRA, asking to explain the airing of a few unpalatable scenes. Other channels also got warnings to produce dramas in compliance with social values or get ready to face the ban.
  • Pyar Ke Sadqay. Pyar ke sadqay showcased Omair Rana as an obsessive father-in-law who pursues his son’s naive wife (Yumna) romantically and makes consistent advances on her. However, this time PEMRA issued a press release stating that the drama’s plot went against viewers discretion as they did not want to see such disrespect of “sacred relations”. The board also mentioned that they have been receiving several complaints on a daily basis, since the show went on air. After repeated notices to TV channels, PEMRA finally announced a ban on the rerun of Pyar ke sadqay.

Meanwhile dramas where heroines get thappar and toxic psychos who kidnap women are heroes and get glorified get a pass 😡

DNUTN was aired by which channel? Is it available to watch online?

PTV has made shows with many different concepts and unique concepts. 👏👏

I so want ITV to make shows the certain concepts that educate people about the issues society is facing. We have the talent but ITV is just busy showing sass-bahu these days.

To some extent I agree but not fully. I think what sets TB apart is also;

The frequency of romantic scenes. We just don't get as many scenes

The way it is shot and directed. The shot lingers.

Old scenes look elevated, new and different. Just compare gajra scene in TB with gajra scenes in Mushkil and Chupke Chupke. Wahi gajra pehnana aur haath pakarna - all three have it. But the one in TB hits differently. The way it is set up, shot, the actor's expressions - Wahaj's hand movements look choreographed like a dance movement than just pedestrian haath pakarna.
