E24: It looks like two people had slept in that bed the night before.

E29: When Meeru wakes up she first looks to the other side of her bed and when she sees Murtu not there, she looks towards the couch. She also seems surprised/taken aback to see him on the couch.

It is because it was not shown. Most of the viewers take things on face value. We understand her because we think things from her perspective. And in the upcoming episodes they might show her struggles so people's hearts might melt for her.
