I think more than the meaning of the word mismatched, what would have hurt Murtasim is that she referred to it in the present tense.
She started off saying: "Dekho hum maane ya na maane, hum dono mismatch hain" [present tense]
She didn't say hum mismatch thay [past tense]
She goes on to explain the reason for this current mismatch
She ends by saying "ajeeb si khila hai hum donon ke beech main" [also present tense]
Saying she thinks they ARE still mismatched to Murtasim is hurtful because it means all his efforts to bridge the "khila" [that she refers to] are useless, and that their growing intimacy or her care for him is a samjotha for her and not an indication of bridges being built or them coming into some kind of alignment with each other. Yeh rishta nibh raha hai ban nahi raha.
It is also annoying if you juxtapose it with what she asked Murtasim earlier meri mohabbat main apni jaan do ge 🤪 I mean she certainly has huge expectations of someone who she thinks is not a good fit for her !!!!
