Episode 30 Review (Still editing)
Here is a question why does Meerab keep giving Sasta Salman chance after chance? Because if she didn’t then what is the difference between her fake parents and her. She doesn’t abandon people once she no longer has use for them. And in this she is like her husband, why can’t he abandon Harpie because for better or for worst they are family. From Murtasim POV his wife risk can't everything for a friend, how can a stranger be of same value as a family member, but for Meerab friends are important relationships too. SS loving her is not a crime worth punishing (Murtasim begs to differ), in fact as her friend she saw it as kindness to make him see reality and help him move on. But not anymore, Murtasim is her bottom line, if he says No, then No it is. She is not a disobedient wife, even since their marriage when he explains clearly with reasons she complies, she doesn’t go against his wishes.
Sasta Salman with the emotional manipulation, Meerab won’t tolerate it not this time ‘Murtasim aisa hi hai’, she accepts her husband as he is, right or wrong is an irrelevant point. She admits she was an idiot for getting tricked by him, that jump/promise scene had an impact on her, she got her husband’s warning loud and clear. She says it is in her best interest that she doesn’t talk or meet with SS, she doesn’t want to trigger her husband overprotective genes and go through Jump 2.0 no thanks. Meerab knows Murtasim power, him killing SS is a statement of fact, she said it with no fear like her husband being a killer is not something she worries about. Her tone and attitude here is if I see you again I will just let my husband shoot you, so get lost.
What did Meerab mean by ‘Murtasim sai pooch kar jaongi’, is she learning from post SS incident to not to go anywhere without her husband’s consent or is she hoping he would intervene on her behalf, so she doesn’t have to go pick up Harpie. I think the reason is latter because she admits she dropped her zidd to go get harpie, and the way MIL was determined to send her out quickly ASAP she knew if Murtasim intervened he will take his wife's side. Murtu baby is reeling from post SS trauma don’t think he would have allowed her out of his sight.
Murtasim ki biwi rescues Mai, it must have been hell to live with witchywoooooo, Mai sniggers at the tanda paani line hahaaaaaaa, staff knows KMK married wisely. The respect Meerab commands it goes beyond her just being KMK’s wife, she inspires loyalty and devotion from the people around her. We always see Meerub through Murtasim’s eyes but when she is away from his shadow, we see what a graceful lady she is, and what a gutter human being behaya is YUCK. Meerab is in full bloom of being Khaani to her Khaan. She is realizing her power and worth, hence why she is daring to take a stand in Maryam case. Even if it ultimately backfires, she felt secure enough in her marriage to speak on her husband’s behalf.
Pixie bitch I mean witch is fighting to not get married. Meerab is sympathizing with the wrong party in this case, save the groom somebody he is the victim of this forced marriage. Murtasim is still in a downer mood not angry, is he dwelling on the past and fearing the future? Khan and Khani discussing forced marriage again, difference is this time Meerab is not making this about themselves like she did with Nyla. She is accepting her destiny; she is proud to be Murtasim ki biwi. Meeerab saying she is not ziddi, Murtasim sarcastic nod of course she is only ziddi with him.
Meerab offers to make Murtasim his coffee, how far they have come from the first tea scene, she rejects him tea and he rejects her marriage, he took that toooooo personally. I can never praise Murtasim enough for his thankyous and pleases it is very refreshing to finally hear a husband speak with respect and not take his wife for granted.
Murtasim is suffering from kidnapping PTSD, he has lived through this experience twice and his nerves are on the edge. Her going to make coffee puts him on a panic mode ‘where is she’. He is so afraid of losing her that he has started believing his own lie that jhin booth are real. He does not see her for 30 seconds he thinks fake ghosts have attacked her.
One hand hold from her is all it takes to cure Murtasim’s sad mood. Meerab don’t waste your energy with the cooking, your touch is more potent than love potion. Coffee bannane chalein, mein aur tum is the ultimate MM double speak. MK is prince is flirt and his begum is Maharani of teasing. Was she laying it on thick with the flirting a little bit, at the steps it was more fake, it was more real in the kitchen, kitchen is their heaven. His ‘Meri Biwi’ and the way his eyes twinkle with pride has more sincerity, love and adoration than the entire ITV drama world right now.
Hand Holding Analysis
KMK grabs Meerab wrist when he wants her to drag her away, this position symbolizes control, aggression, or neediness. The higher up the arm a man holds you the more he exerts his dominance over you, of course during SS incident he held her near her elbows, because her wrist was hurt but symbolically it worked as he is at his peak possessives, and he is asserting total control over her. But when they are outside SS flat his hands shift down to her uninjured wrist, she is taking back control as she snatches her arm away.
They have properly held hands twice now when going somewhere in all those times his palm is facing up, theoretically he is the dominant partner (entering walima and this coffee date). She gets to drag him away by holding his hand and her thumb caresses him as she pulls him away. When Murtasim holds her hand his thumb caresses over her fingers, but his actions are gentle they are unseen to the naked eye, but her caress is more deliberate and obvious. She is Maharani of teasing. He has the upper hand, but she is the alpha in this marriage.
The dance is different, a lady’s hand is held palm down in a man’s when he is leading her to the dance floor and during the dance, this is dance etiquette.
Next step in intimacy is interlocking fingers, PEMRA and all so forget it, use imagination.

Meerab conversation with Maryam, she played so many roles in this scene. Dish the gossip sister who is the boy we forget what a free spirit Meerab once was, a wise Bhabhi advising her running away isn’t the solution, Khani to her Khan taking charge of the situation as she feels confident in her status as KMK's wife, and finally her naïve idealism winning out believing that fixing Maryam marriage is going to change the feudal system.
‘Itna zalim nahin hain’ is Meerab way of saying, my husband is my hero. She is not doubting Murtasim love, she is contemplating the depth of it. Her pointed remark that we just got married there was no love before before marriage, princess of misunderstanding strikes again. Please add that to the list of things of Meerab doesn’t know about Murtasim, Mrs. Khan Mr. Khan loved you before Marriage.
Murtasim play acting hmmmmmm tell me darling what does Mohabbath mean. Meerab telling him love is only true if you fight for it, have patience for it, suffer for it as if he doesn’t know all these things. He is writing the bible on this subject I am helping him. Murtasim talks about true love and take three names, and she responds with a name of her own Ghalib. When he asks her to elaborate, she pretends this wasn’t her thought but Maryam. This upsets him as he sees her shutting down. He wants her to open up to him, so he tries plan B. Murtasim is all about Plan Bsss, if one strategy doesn’t work try another.
He asks her "Agar koi tumse Ishq karne lag gaya, toh kya karogi tum", he wants three questions answered, will she have faith in that kind of love, can she trust that he loves her that fervently, and lastly will she love him back as earnestly as he loves her. She eyes him up and down of course she knows he is talking about himself, nahhhhhhhh husband you are not at that stage yet, you haven’t passed all your trials. He only gave her names, but it was she who elaborated their meanings in context to what she will do for him once she believes in him. She responds swiftly and with her poetic heartfelt response he got 2 out of 3 questions answered, final problem is up to him to solve.
Her answer was not only to his one question but goes beyond what true soulful love means to her. With one answer she answered many questions. Her love for him will go beyond his expectations, and we dare question why he is so patient with her. Who wouldn’t want to be loved like that, that kind of love is worth waiting many lifetimes for and he will agree to face any number of trials to win her love.
