Katha's definition of "practical"

I didn't realize this would end up becoming a running theme until I saw today's episode.

So there's a reason that Katha has been mouthing the "be practical" line to Meera since 2-3 weeks now😆....it was all lofty and good when she was giving gyaan to Meera about there being no future in such a "friendship" with a married man, but now it seems Katha will apply her definition of "practical" to her own equation with Viaan😆.

Now the attempt is admirable, no doubt.....but pray tell, hasn't the "practical" train left the station WAY back when it comes to Katha and Viaan?😆.....This isn't even about the baggage of the ONS which will ALWAYS keep some level of undercurrents going between them....this is about Katha's inability to to understand the difference between suppression and practicality. Simply pretending the truth doesn't exist is not "practical"😆, it's called DENIAL😆.

She refused to process her own baggage about the ONS and it came out in the form of a bitter question during this Shamita case. Now she seems to again be looking to apply some version of this since she's heard Viaan's poem and KNOWS it's about her😆. An HONEST reaction to learning about someone's feelings for you would be about giving a yes or no answer to whether you reciprocate those feelings....you don't instantly jump to compartmentalize in "practicality" without even having a conversation with yourself first, man😆. What exactly is she trying to be "practical" about? A relationship? LOL Viaan hasn't even gotten to that point...he has simply expressed via a poem that he has feelings for her....Katha is already planning out the practicality or impracticality of a relationship with him?😆 Doesn't that usually come AFTER you accept whether or not you reciprocate someone's feelings? lol matlab pehle hi DECIDE kar lo you won't have feelings cuz it's "impractical"? LOL this approach seems ironically robotic for a woman who is going around being an agony aunt to everyone😆.

What Katha is trying to call practicality seems more like a woman terrified to accept or face any sort of feelings for a man she has complicated history with. Love is never practical, period😆

Nice post. I think Katha won't accept easily that she can develop feelings for another man after Adi. Yes she is in denial and thus wants to just be friends with Viaan. She does have a soft spot for Viaan but may be feelings seems to be at very early stage. She is still in her past memories with her late husband. For her to come out and accept Viaan it will be struggle for her heart. Trigger point can be Viaan Aarav bond.

But that's the thing na - if this is about her struggle to accept that she can have feelings for Viaan, why is the framing about "practicality"? lol she can just outright say na that she doesn't have feelings for him so she'd like to just be friends? Why do this golmol funda of saying ki it's not "practical" to have feelings for someone?😆

She can't control how Viaan feels....lol calling it "practical" won't make him magically stop feeling what he feels. She is welcome to suppress her own feelings as usual but to expect Viaan to do the same in the name of "practicality" is just looking weird.

I do feel she has drawn a false equivalence between whatever Yuvraj-Meera's situation was and her own equation with Viaan. Viaan has shown a lot of respect and regard for her wishes at every point since his atonement started....to compare him to a weak-willed Yuvraj who just used Meera as a temporary distraction from his life's problems is quite unfair to Viaan.

No, she is not comparing yuvraj to viann. She just wants to make things clear btw her and him or in other words doesn't want to give any false hopes. Because over expectations can shatter a person both emotionally and mentally. So she is trying to draw a line btw her and him.

Exactly my point. She doesn't want to give any false hopes..as an intelligent women she could understand that the words were meant for her.. She is trying to make it clear that she doesn't reciprocate his feelings but before that I think many problems will arise and after solving everything she will come to realise that she does harbour some soft feelings for him.

I just remembered that Viaan did try to be “practical” at one point by avoiding Katha and backing off when Ehsan was planning the Rajasthan trip with Katha.

But that “practicality” wasn’t acceptable to Katha ji then 😆….she steamrolled her way onto the Lonavla project when Viaan was trying to give her space. Lol. And now she will decide how “practical” Viaan’s feelings are or are not 😆.

Waise how “practical” was it to change the A/V at the Earthcon celebration simply cuz her boss looked sad?

As per Katha rules, she has freedom to be impulsive when she sees fit but others must adhere to her “practicality” gyaan as per her whims 😆

She is sort of indirectly comparing him to Yuvraj by making it sound like Viaan presumed there is more than friendship between them and got carried away. Since she gave so much gyaan to Meera about breaking things off with Yuvraj in a timely manner and how this is not practical for her own life, it appears she is trying to apply the same for herself in Viaan’s case now. This isn’t about Viaan’s false hopes or over expectations shattering him..this is more about Katha being practical for herself. Or so she thinks 😆

My point is simply that both Katha and Viaan are doing impulsive things. But somehow only Viaan is being labeled the impulsive one for wanting to express what he feels. Katha’s approach is not practical IMO either. It is better to tell Viaan straight up that she doesn’t have feelings for him rather than claiming she doesn’t do relationships cuz it’s not “practical”.

Viaan is yet to even think through the scenario of Katha saying no to him 😆….a direct no from Katha would have been the most “practical” wake up call 😆

Shouldn't falling in love be practical thing. I mean it is not the first time where you know one day you are going to get married and give chance to the person you liked.

For Katha, it is her 2nd time and she even didn't have full feeling for Viaan. How can she ask for him to wait or gives false hopes to Viaan. It is better to clear things between Viaan and Katha until Katha realize to give herself 2nd chance.

If you just like a person but keep remembering your past self, it will create trouble for both. Katha should enter into relationships only when she accepted her feeling whole heartily.

Isn't the first requirement of practicality to keep things professional at your workplace? 😆

Second chance at love, not being ready for another relationship and all come later.....but Katha is saying she wants PRACTICALITY.....lol she's been trying to be practical ever since the ONS by keeping her focus on work. And that would have been fine if Viaan's case was really of a guy who believes he can buy any woman he wants. But it wasn't.....it was much more complicated than that.

The professional lines got blurred between Katha and Viaan way back with the ONS and the fallout from that. If Katha wants practicality with him, she will have to keep their relationship professional....but that is not what she seems to be conveying to him with her reaction to this poem and the parallel she is drawing with Yuvraj-Meera. She seems to be trying to say that a relationship between her and Viaan is impractical rather than directly saying that they should stay professional with each other since their relationship is of boss employee only.

The most practical would be Katha left Earthcon and working on another company but the story will not continue for the serial.

Right now it is like friendly colleague and she understood Viaan is getting feeling for her so she wants to clear it. It seems practical to me.
