The poetry in this show always strikes a chord. I had been yearning for some good itv/ptv writing and how well has this show served? I'm not used to seeing THIS level of literary finesse on itv, it is such a joy! The way the poem ended (somehow it's always the last line for me), "tu antarman main jeet ja, tu antarmann main jeet ja" that nailed the concept, and even though there were a lot of hindi words I didn't understand, I got the meaning just like Viaan intended for Aarav.

Transcription below:

Tu sach ki raah par badhaa, toh tujhko dekhti dharaa

Tu bhay ki aakhein moond le, vijay ko mann mein dhoond le

Jhoot ko azaad kar, sach ki roshni prakhar

Itihaas ka pramaan padh, shaurya ka tu geet gadh

Adharm mein nyaay hai phasaa, veer hai toh kar dikhaa

Vishwa ka upkaar kar, tu zulm par prahaar kar

Shatru aaj dang hai, tu sharuya ka mridung

Chhal ke is pahaad par, tu satya ka sinhad kar

Nyaay khud ghataa nahin, viphal hai jo dataa nahin

Hoonkar bhar, tu aage badh...aage badh, tu aage badh

Lad ke jo adig khadaa, sangharsh mein nidar badaa

Yudh ki haar jeet mein, vijay wohi jo sthir khadaa

Khud se hi har yudh hai, yeh seekh jaa

Tu antarmann mein jeet ja....tu antarmann mein jeet jaa

I especially loved how this poem talked about learning how the battle is always within us....it is about winning the battle inside yourself before anything else👏

Loved the poem...and the execution of that whole scene. While the little soldier who had just won his own little battle recited it with such purity & eloquence, Viaan gets ready for the final round of his own battle... with his held held high, having defeated his own inner demons ready to take on the world now.

I love the writing & dialogues in this show but the poems and songs are like the icing on the cake. Have not seen such fine writing with such depth in an ITV show in a long long time.

Thanks for sharing...another one to savour❤️

Happended to watch the promos of this show, and some how got drawn into the show...

I remember watching the promo where V was begging for K's forgiveness.....and in the promo, I felt that was some poor acting...lol....but got drawn to the show bcoz of K.....disclaimer: not taking any sides here...lol..

Clearly some great writing, classy exceution, organic relationships, soulful music, no over the top melodrama or side kick characters is keeping me hooked...

Robin - Batman take the cake with their purity, innocence, being each other's strength, genuine love and care for each other....how beautifully that relationship has evolved....

Thanks for sharing the poem!!

OMG Manisha?😆 Damn, it's been aaaages....lol glad to see you here too🤗 Hope you've been doing well :)

I actually determinedly avoided watching this show for the longest time even though I was getting recommendations to watch it😆....maine toh sab avoid kiya hua tha - promos, any news etc....I thought plot would be too heavy and also seemed like feedback was skewed towards building mandirs for Aditi and writing off the ML😆. I haven't seen either of their ITV shows before so I toh wasn't even invested...I know Aditi is a good actress from her other work but hadn't watched anything of Adnan's before. Ultimately I dragged myself to start watching around the time Viaan wrote that "Ab woh mujhse baat karti hai" poem....lol and then I binge-watched the whole show in like a week or two I think.

Yes, clearly some great, layered writing....what's notably different in the writing is the way they are taking their time with every aspect of the story....I've seen other well written shows too but they are still usually trying to jump from track to track, gimmick to gimmick as per current ITV framework. This show has surprised me with how it genuinely takes that time in evolving a lot of things, and that brings this rare feeling of SAVORING the story/characters - that feeling is mostly gone from ITV since a while now. lol

Robin-Batman totally have my heart right now too....they have developed that relationship so naturally, so sweetly that you can't help but fall in love with them too....this Karate practice has formed the backdrop for building their relationship and how nicely they brought this high point of the Karate competition culminating in their relationship deepening to another level of affection.

Yes, the poem totally ended with a bang with the impact that last line made....a very powerful set of finishing lines👏

It did have a lot of heavy hindi words, no doubt....lol some of them even I didn't get but yes, overall one can understand the meaning of the poem pretty clearly. Waise I'm trying to imagine Viaan writing anything with such shudh Hindi words😆....doesn't really jive with how he speaks in general😆. They didn't clear up whether he wrote it himself or this is a poem from one of his favorite poets.

Beautifully put, Smriti :) I loved how they brought together the threads of the little battles that everyone was fighting in their own ways....ofcourse the main thread went from Aarav having just won his battle to Viaan getting ready to face the final round for his...but the shots of all the other folks like Katha, Neerja, Teji grappling with their own conflicts, inner demons et. further elevated the scene.....the final shot of Viaan walking determinedly while the voiceover said, "tu antarmann mein jeet jaa" - perfectly executed.

Word on the poems and the songs in the show being the icing on the cake. I hope they can continue to stay off the beaten path in the songs they choose for the scenes rather than giving in to typical stuff.

I know its been ages.🤗

Doing great....work has been exciting..pandemic pushed all to reinvent, so got to work on some exciting projects...so it has been rewarding that way...

I am excited to see you here, and I look forward to some interesting posts and analysis 😊....Hopefully, will pass by this place more often ..:)

I know, i loved that "Ab woh mujhse baat karti hai" poem...and now its funny to see his gobsmacked look while the same lines play on the screen in his office...

Glad to hear things have been going great! I know, so much has changed with the pandemic and all....sometimes it's hard to remember the world before then....lol

Haha I was avoiding making any threads cuz discussions seemed to be on another tangent here, but now I'm glad I made this one and found you here....otherwise haven't seen any familiar faces here in a while.

@bold: LOL that poem is getting quite the journey since Viaan first wrote it....the high of his realization was perfectly captured in that poem, and then the way they used it for the voiceover when Katha was changing her earrings before their "therapy session wala dinner date"😆....to now it being played publicly as proof of Viaan's innocence😆. His terrified expression in the precap is next level hilarious 😆

Ok I can ask you this as a fellow IB fan....doesn't Viaan give you Billu vibes in his awkward mode?😆. Adnan has really grown into this role and now I can't imagine anyone else playing Viaan like he has😆

hahahha...tell me about it...my refernece point of such ghonchugiri is our and only Billu ji only....😆

And now I see Viaan stepping into that zone as well....

It's nice to see these shades developing, otherwise only being a brooding hero can be so limiting...

Even with his so called best friend Ehsan he is so guarded....Shades of his persona are being uncovered by Katha, Aarav and to some extent Dodo...

LOL ofcourse, Billu ji was the OG on ITV for awkward atakna like that😆, toh wohi reference point banega na....haha brooding heroes are a dime a dozen on ITV....the awkwardness adds a more humanizing factor.

Viaan has been in that zone ever since the ONS happened because everything got charged between them after that with layers of awkwardness to navigate, especially from Viaan's side....and an awkwardness built around a secret only they both are privy to and no one else.....lol

I think with Ehsan, Viaan is able to share the bitterness of his childhood traumas, but with Katha and Aarav especially, he has shared his vulnerabilities in a way he rarely does with anyone else....they have brought out a much softer side in him that previously he only perhaps reserved for his mom. He has discovered new dimensions of kindness, graciousness and forgiveness within himself. I guess the thing is that while he could share his bitter traumas with Ehsan or his mom, he could never really move past them or process them in anyways.....Katha taught him a new perspective about facing life's challenges and in Aarav, he is finding that pure hearted innocence of childhood that had somewhere gotten tainted during his own childhood.....being there for Aarav is helping him heal from his own childhood traumas too. Dodo toh is a special specimen who manages to uncover different shades from sab logon ke personas😆
