His mom in that shows tells the same. Abhi has always been so mature for his age from his childhood. Neil brought that out sooo well.

The FL( his wife)'s younger sisters are older to him but the way he handles them is so endearing. Being friendly, yet showing his status as their elder BIL. Even as husband, he is a kid infront of his sacrificial wife who is 8 years older to him, but he puts his foot down and makes decisions.

I think roles like these bring out the acting because you have to convince the viewers as a matured man of 30 being in body of 22!!

Gulaal is much easier I thought. Because he was 22 in mind, body and actions. Though, as the director of the show once said to make this BIL and SIL chemistry show up without cringe factor is extremely difficult. Mansi and Neil both did amazingly well. There are scenes where his thoughts wander around lust, no wonder his age was like that, but how controlled they were!! Not once I felt cringe. Eventually you root for them to become one. His character arc, though spanned only for 7 months or so, had full growth.

Now in Ghum, it is reverse. He has much younger wife and he has be matured one in their marriage, the nurturer. However, he shows his vulnerabilites so well. He becomes so immaturish in front of Sai, in a believable way. To show such nuances is difficult. Both Ayesha and Neil showed how a married couple grow over time. Good actors capture these progressions well. I see that in both Neil and Ayesha. 👍🏼

Bottom line is yes I think Neil is a good actor, if given the right content with good directors.

Completely agree . I have watched both Karol Bagh and Gulaal and one can see his growth from show to show .

In Gulaal , my favorite scene is the ending one where you could see in that 2 minute that Kesar is all grown up now and Neil brought it out so well . IMO Gulaal is the toughest show to be made and also for the actors to portray such complicated characters . I am glad the show was on when SM was not toxic . Kesar goes through varied of emotions when he was with Gulaal and it’s a challenge to portray such scenes because the relationship itself was so sensitive that any wrong move can make the scene cringe .

Neil nuances in ghum are so perfect . In pre leap we could see it in almost all Sairat scene and now I am seeing it’s back with Savi and Sai . Neil chemistry with Aria is top notch too . They look like real daughter and father .

Yes Gulaal has heart touching scenes. the ending is the best one. But do you remember how she EYES her when she plays gay abandon in the forest? It was admiration + lust kind of look. :)

And when he barges into her room and says she keeps wandering in his mind always. Many such scenes. I think Gulaal is mostly writers/directors challenge. Acting wise I felt Abhi was difficult to do. Both are good characters.

Ghum is definitely his best performance.

Yes I remember that scene . I need to rewatch it again after reading your thoughts. When I first watched the show I was very young so I actually liked Kesar with Talli and couldn’t appreciate Gulaal Kesar relationship . When I rewatched the show again is when I started appreciating the complexities that was there in Gulaal and Kesar life . I think that show was for selected audiences

Another thing I likE about Neil is he portrays officers role really well . His small nuances in holding the gun and during mission scenes depict real life officErs body language. I would definitely want to see him in some action based show or web series as a cop .

Honestly, his performance hasn’t degraded in fact it has become better after gulaal . The only person imo who can give tough competition to Neil in terms of acting in his generation of actors in the show is Sid Bhodke rest no one can come close to him . His diction is perfect , expressions are apt , he can convey without dialogues if script is not ambiguous .

Like I mentioned other day he isn’t perfect and he needs improvement in the scenes where he needs to show anger mixed with hurt . While watching post leap most of the times I felt disconnected with his acting but now when I watch collectively l feel it’s the script issue . They purposely kept the script ambiguous so actor cannot be blamed .

I have spent 2.5 yrs watching the show and observing off screen drama . I feel 95% of the people have issues with his certain decisions he took wrt to personal life . Most blame him for not promoting Sairat and hold him responsible for not having good relationship with Ayesha . I have my op ions on both but I don’t want to talk about it as it doesn’t matter to me as long he can perform once camera is ON . For a short period after leap I felt Neil Ayesha uncomfortableness sis costing us Sairat scene but I was proved wrong after seeing some FB scenes and scenes after Vinu’s reveal so now I don’t blame either of them if they have personal issues because they are able to put that aside for work . I judge both the actors with the same yardstick .

Then it seems like their personal bias only.

I agree about Sid Bhodke, he played different shades of Jagtap very well. A very good actor indeed!

I watched thode episodes in one go, so I didn't find his acting off. It was the script which was ambiguous.

I don't get these people behaving like parents of their favourite actors, they are grown up people. Let them decide for themselves. Even if it was Ayesha at Neil's place I'll say the same. Being public figures doesn't mean that public owns them.

The discomfort, even I felt that but after the Cafe hug it seems like script demand only. That hug was so good, it felt like Sai was absorbing Virat into her 😭

Talking about nuances... something I have always admired.

When picking up any sindoor or any religious ritualistic stuff, NB uses thumb and ring finger. That's how it's supposed to be done.

I am sure this is his own and not a directors suggestion.

Don't want to point to religion/caste etc... but those who are devout or are trained in rituals do that. 👍🏼

Regarding the rituals, yes NB is on point. I too observed. Not to point the caste. But Pandit hain woh. Seekha hoga bachpan se🤣.
