From what I have read and heard- Aamir Khan, SRK, Saif, Sara, Amitabh, Jaya, Kajol, Sridevi, Poonam Dhillon, Ashok Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Javed Akhtar, Salim Khan, Shabana Azmi, Sushmita Sen, Naseeruddin Shah, Twinkle Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Ratna Pathak, Om Puri, Nandita Das, Swaroop Sampat - are/were all known or reported to be voracious readers or fond of reading or seen with books in a quiet corner at even film sets.

Some of them like Akhtars, Bachchans, Pathaudis belong to literary or highly educated families themselves, hence known for literary tastes, having personal libraries, intellectual discussions at home or poetry recitals at home as well. Swaroop Sampat Rawal is a PhD and an educator herself. Late Smita Patil, Meena Kumari, Balraj Sahni and Satyajit Ray were other ones fond of reading and writing. Meena ji was known to be quite good at original shayari.

Reportedly Dharmendra is also a poet or shayar of sorts but keeps his poetry to close family members and friends. Govinda also used to write, especially poetry. But I do not know if they read a lot though, only someone who reads a lot, is also able to write a lot or come up with own writing. Dharam and Govinda usually keep their literary side away from media and their poetry is said to be either romantic or philosophical and quite contrary to their image in public.

Sridevi? Never heard of that... Sri herself mentioned that she never read anything except maybe occasional comics

I am not saying Sridevi was some voracious reader. But I once show a special on her on Star gold where co stars were saying she is mostly quiet in sets and keeps to self or sits in a corner with a book, hardly talks to anyone and she changes entirely only in front of camera.

So based on that I mentioned her name that she too was sort of known to disappear in some magazine or book on sets.

Not saying she was a well read person like Sara or Shabana. Who knows if she read comics or Manor Kahaniya?
