I will ask again what if Anuj had said this to Maa?

This is actually a mental disorder, it's called being in denial which builds up toxicity in one's head which manifests in unexpected ways. It's why therapists ask the patient the right questions for them to be able to face their internal issues and make the righy realizations.

But in Maa-verse it's a way of making problems disappear magically.

However, if you ever watch one in the Hindi ITV space, do try out some of the shows from Sony TV/SAB (like Bade Acche Lagte Hai season 1 - only till the child grows up or Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi). They may not be the best but they are generally non toxic and not dragged out. I barely remember a decent show on Star of late apart from the first 100 episodes of Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum. Another show which I really liked in the past was Ek Hasina Thi. And Sasural Genda Phool. Others may recommend better shows, if there are any 😆

Agreed. I loved how KHKT made of typical itv serials which no logic, it was sad to see it get ruined after. Dr Rohit Sippy was a great character. EHT and SGP were also great shows even Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai and Ek Veer Ki Adraas were good shows. I miss those days when Indian serials were actually good. Now there’s just negativity and the same love triangle crap in every show.

All good SP shows were short and sweet and deliberately so, because a story unnecessarily extended gets stale very fast.

I remember waiting for new stories every week on Teri Meri Love Stories, and there was stuff like Maryaada and Kaali that were on late night slots because of disturbing scenes and mature topics but excellent storylines.

Short-lived Everest, Dehleez and Ek Haseena Thi and the ever charming Sasural Genda Phool season 1 were so close to my heart.

And there were campy shows too like Nazar or Ye Jaadu... but they were self-aware fantasies not meant to be taken seriously. They never claimed to support any social causes and were pure junk and meme material.

But Anupamaa started with tall claims of female emancipation. The cast still gives interviews stating that its about a woman who is different from the usual orthodox ones, and yet they keep showing her doing and supporting regressive acts. If this is not hypocrisy, what is.

I will not take any other names here but SP is running almost all shows with similar patterns like women claiming to have careers as a doctor, journalist, athlete, cricketer, caterer etc. and all we see them do is run after a man who is also being chased by a so-called "less competent" woman

I hope you are in a better space now. I can totally relate. I dealt with everything alone and took some ghastly decisions to deal with that which I would regret for the rest of my life. Although it was painful and numbing at times, it also taught me a lot of things. And I hope it was the same for you ❤️

ITV should stay away from every issue. They should stick to their saas-bahu saaga only.

Hey pompy i am good. Thank you❤️

How are you?

I have nothing good to say about the show, would end up giving gaali everyday so i stay away

Better than before yes. I hope the best for you 🤗

I can understand . i have said and done things that i would regret forever too in some of my darkest moments.I am learning everyday. I believe it's a journey.

Even better itv should just stick to heroine falling ,Hero catching , break up-patch up cycle, songs and dancing in every second episode

Those stupid tropes.

Seriously calling a depressed person mad is a low blow. I hope there was a way to raise concerns over this to ITV but like everything else, this best be ignored.

There's no point in even trolling this show now !

Completely, completely with you. Any normal person, atleast most people, can see in Anuj's every word and every mannerism and every silence - that he is going through intense trauma and depression. The way his so-called "best friends" and so-called "love of his life" has only things to say like "how dare you behave with bhabhi ji like this", "bapuji, I'll bring them to holi, you don't worry" and yes, the infamous "have you gone mad or what?"...

If they can't understand him, atleast give him space - something he keeps screaming himself hoarse he needs. The way the makers will twist and distort and degrade this to make the "titular character" the "victim" - I'm not going to watch this.

What a show where almost every important word needs to be put in air quotes.

Not even worth trolling, yes. Now the only thing I truly care about is the interactions I've had with the people here, like you.

Exactly - it is high time we understand physchological problems and address them meaningfully rather than calling a person "paagal".

Everything that movies are trying to do with Mature dramas is down the drain in the name of TRPs for a trashy daily soap.

I am shocked at the problematic messaging this show has succeeded in giving. Post on how Anuj is 'mad' didn't appear before Anupamaa said it. Now, some people are just following it blindly because their fav said it. Imagine the effect on a wider scale when the top rated serial's titular protagonist has said it. Looking at these 'mad' posts, it seems like some of the difficult progress made in the mental health field has been undone.

Seriously, channels need to be more responsible for the content they are showing. ITV runs on drama, okay, but come on this 'mad' line wasn't even needed. There was enough happening to keep the TRPs high.
