Yes. Today it is all about the SM presence. It is no secret with how PL reached 1M despite being disliked by the show's audience. The popularity is gauged through this and contributes to the star's market value. It is more like getting a brand ambassador for a product.

Like you said, they are doing everything right in that direction. Right or wrong, negative or positive, genuine or cunning, their plan/PR play has worked. However, having said that the popularity they have is majorly with people who do not watch the show. The one's who watch mostly dislike P. And there is enough smoke regarding their hold and manipulation. So online and TRP audience both are not in favour of the couple, atleast the PL. Either for her character or for these stupid games and gossip surrounding them.

How will they earn from this then. This will only work for the CH if the PL was having a fanbase who is watching it, or her/their SM fans get lured to the show. Or else, there is no benefit here in keeping her.
