Delhi Capitals will look to seal its top-two place when it meets Gujarat Giants today.

The Meg Lanning-led Capitals have had a stellar campaign so far in WPL 2023, with a solitary blemish in their record being a tame loss to Mumbai Indians.

The side has returned to dominant winning ways and will hope to brush an unsteady Giants unit out of the way.

Delhi Capitals are holding second place on the WPL 2023 standings with eight points. In their past five games, they lost only one match against Mumbai Indians.

The injuries and replacements they had to seek aside, Giants haven't given the vibe of a settled XI as yet. A lot of chopping and changing and swaps among overseas batters later, they still have just two points out of probable 10 thanks to their plucky win against RCB.

The form of their new captain and vice-captain, alongside another ace allrounder Annabel Sutherland, will definitely be giving the management a headache, while removing in-form Sophia Dunkley for new recruit Laura Wolvaardt has upset a struggling batting order's rhythm further.

MI brought Giants' death-bowling woes to the fore once again with Harmanpreet Kair's assault helping them collect 61 runs in the final six overs to post 162 that eventually proved enough for their fragile batting. If Giants have learnt their lesson from that defeat, they'll be better served beefing up their spin attack on the tracks of Brabourne that have started to slow down.

Barring the lop-sided contest against the already qualified Mumbai Indians and a tense win against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals have registered three dominant wins to firmly park themselves in the second spot, and a win here will all but secure their knockouts' qualification.

Delhi, have benefited greatly from the destructive opening pair of Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning at the top, and the runs from the middle-order to secure the win were a welcome change ahead of the business end of the tournament.

A win in this game will help DC to lock a playoff spot whereas if Gujarat lose this game, their chances of making it to the knockouts will be jolted further. Delhi’s batting depth is enviable and their bowlers have been on the money as well. The last time these two sides met, Gujarat Giants were blown away, courtesy a 5-fer from Marizanne Kapp and a swashbuckling knock from Shafali Verma. Gujarat have been guilty of chopping and changing and that hasn’t augured well for them. They need to pull their socks up and get their act together. Can they bounce back tonight?
