The whole plot was absurd but it had great songs and Sridevi comic timing was amazing. She was so good as a greedy wife, all the actors even side actors had great comic timings . Movie worked because of all that, otherwise with that plot it would have completely failed.

I am so glad someone called out this shit for what it is. I think Boney Kapoor is a pervert and MCP. He makes crap films like Laadla, Judaai, Hamara dil aapke paas hai etc. He shows working and educated women as bimbos, NRI women also as perverts and housewives also as greedy or petty and man as the only wise person.

Urmila is a joke. She is educated. Why she eyes a man who is older than her, married and dad of 2 kids? Later she becomes so called Sati Savitri, changes her dress sense, adopts his kids as her own, tolerates shit of Sridevi and her parents quietly, does all vrat and puja, housework or are ready to sacifice and leave husband to first wife and kids while you roam alone pregnant with his child and go abroad as a single mom. Wah.

Sridevi is a bigger joke with her materialism and greed. She was not that poor either. Why and who sells husband just because you are gonna get 2 crore rupees? And later you feel attached to husband or kids and act as Sati Savitri and want husband and kids back?

Boney shows women as total weirdos.

Anil is also a loser in this film. Does he have no brain of his own that he agrees to whims of his wife and his wives play him around like a ping pong ball?

Sridevi going on hunger strike just to force Anil to remarry is biggest joke. Total crap film.

And I agree Sridevi should never have been forgiven. Ideally Anil should have left both women and lived happy life with kids as a single dad. His FIL, wives, were all mad.

Since this was one of the first few movies I watched as a kid

It put the thought in my head that 2 crores = ultra rich …(given the kind of house they live in)

So my first ever goal in life was to have bank balance of 2 Crore 😂

It was a remake of Hollywood movie Indecent Proposal. Bollywood reversed the genders because society is more accepting of a man sleeping with someone else for money than they are of a woman doing it. Didn’t the movie become a hit? I guess the makers were right.

One person wanted to buy a man. One person wanted to sell a man. And the man in question went along with it. Three extremely problematic and damaged individuals who then decided to live in the same house 🙄🙄🙄

Movie has a great soundtrack though.

It was a remake of Telugu movie Subalagnam

Maybe Subalagnam was 'inspired' by Indecent proposal

Movie was good, at the end Anil Kapoor's character got two wives, crores of money, babies, luxuries, cars, free khaana, and the two ladies fought like Anil was Tom Cruise. From the male lead's POV the movie was truly epic.

How come Madz won BA for DTPH over Sridevi in Judaai?

Both released in 97. Both superhits. But no one can question that Madz was nothing award worthy in DTPH. And to give her an award in same year...
