She wasn't having a panic attack and he slapped her way too hard. He was also not trying to calm her down but trying to stop her forcefully. That's why she snapped. She was simply walking pass him crying and he stopped her.

I think i have seen multiple dramas were the FL calls ML beghairat and nobody made a huge deal out of it. I guess in any drama with the FL and ML starts off as haters will have the FL calling the ML begharat. It's such a commonly used word that it didn't look that big of a deal.
