It depends but to say only Pathan had original songs it’s not correct. However, yes remakes and remixes is the trend. However, some remixes are well done and liked like Dilbar with Nora. I do agree that character dheela 2 wasn’t necessary and the video didn’t have the peppy ness in the video. Main Khalidi tu anari sounded similar to the original though with more acoustics. Plus, remixes sometimes makes us go back and listen to yesteryears songs.

remixes by Punjabi artists have helped them get more notability In Bollywood and not just Punjab. Example Hardy Sandu recently with kya baat hai. In the past guru randhwa, honey Singh, badshah, Diljit and list goes on. I’m sure mankirt a( judge singer) if he gets the chance to gave his song in a Bollywood movie it be super duper same with AP dhillion.

T-series, Tanishk Bagchi and their mediocre singers, million bots are responsible for making a lot of mediocre content hits. Just look at their number of views vs other labels on Youtube. There is a tendency to go after a popular product and they fully make use of it. But yes, no distinguishable talent among the new singers except the over-used Arjit.

True. I feel like the real decline started from 2012-13 right after SOTY. Can't really explain it but it ushered in a new era of fix-it-quick solutions in Bollywood.

Gone are the days where the music played a big role in the success of a movie. Aashiqui is one such example. The music was such a rage that the movies became very successful. MPK, HAHK, DDLJ, KKHH, Darr, Dil, QSQT are examples how music played a major role in the success of these movies. Another musical hit was Lal Dupatta Mal Mal Ka. This movie was released on TV only but the songs were extremely popular. It even had a sequel.

Previously, we could instantly identify singers just by hearing their voices. Each singers had their own individuality. Udit, Kumar Sanu, Sonu, SPB, Shaan, Alka, Sadhna Sargam, Kavita K, Anuradha Paudwal, etc voices were unique. Nowadays I can hardly identify singers as all voices are similar.

I think melody is missing in today’s music. All we have is noise with some catchy lyrics. Very few movies will have original songs. Even original songs nowadays don’t have the same repeat value as older songs.
