Remember the 00's pop scene where they remixed 60s, 70s songs? Not only those music videos did justice to remixing the songs but also had better stories in those 3-4 minute videos!

Nahi nahi abhi nahi, keh doon tumhe, chalte chalte, meri pyaari bindu... so many done so well!

I am so fed up of even recent music being remixed or recent films remade.

Earlier atleast 50 to 60 YO music was remixed. Nowadays merely 8 or 10 YO song also gets remixed.

Why?

I loathe remakes of films and remixes of songs and total lack of originality as well as bhedchaal.

I cannot even identify singers of today. Unlike Alka, Udit, Sanu, Sonu, Sunidhi or Shreya.

Today's singers are not even versatile. Arijit is typecast. Sings one type of songs unlike versatile male singers of past.

Not a single movie or song is memorable now. Earlier music alone was reason for success of actor or singer. Nothing like it now.

True. I feel like the real decline started from 2012-13 right after SOTY. Can't really explain it but it ushered in a new era of fix-it-quick solutions in Bollywood.

Also, Bollywood has had rubbish songs and music back in 80s 90s as well. You unearth these gems unexpectedly on insta and think who tf made these or listened to. But now they are majorly passed off as comedy and cringe. Thing is they were not popular due to lack of chronically active internet population. So let's not give too much credit to yester years music. Bollywood had good music starting late 90s to early 2000s - very experimental.

In year 2052 somebody would prolly discover present day music and pass if off that way too.

Music Composer are not interested in making evergreen songs. If they did they would utilise the incredible singers in the industry who are still at the top of their game. KK(Rip), Sonu, Shaan, Shreya, Sunidhi their voices are still top- tier and yet we are being forced to listen to new singers who have no individuality and are so basic. Why?? New talent needs to be balanced by older much more refined talent the level of composition will improve on it's own. So much politics in the industry.

We complain about Bollywood not giving original music, but aren't we all audience at fault for this?

Jersey, a film with new, non-remix songs, how much has ppl appreciated it?

Same Shahid-t-series combo gave Kabir Singh, again whole album was having new songs. but Kabir Singh's music has more SUCCESS.

Audience only decide what they want to hear, they make that only.

true. Shamshera's, jugg jugg jeeyo n many other new films has original good songs. people paid more attention to galliyan remake but Ekvillian returns original songs dil n shaamat were so good

Agree with the remake part. The audience is to be blamed as well because it keeps supporting remake songs. Having said that, the industry is not completely dead. I feel Laal Singh Chaddha had some beautiful songs esp Phir Na Aisi Raat was a pure gem! Even Qala and Brahmastra had some good songs. But yes BW needs to invest in better Lyrics writers and music composers.

I've heard these days playback singers don't get paid or paid very less if at all...

If that's the case then quality is bound to decline...

Movies are eqiually as bad.

Every other song is a remake/remix

Every other movie is a remake/sequel

Soon every other actor will be remake of Hrithik, remake of SRK, remix of Kareena and Saif, etc😆 Or maybe a sequel like Ibrahim of Sara Ali Khan🤣

Originality ka zamana hi nahi raha
