Khamoshi the Musical (1996)

Watched the movie today after almost 30 years and what a masterpiece.

I am short of words. This is SLB at his best...lyrical, evocative, and heart-touching. The simplicity is its beauty.

All the performances are superb, especially Manisha Koirala and Nana Patekar.

Even Salman was surprisingly good.

I think Khamoshi is his best work so far, and surprisingly, it flopped. I think it was ahead of its time.

The movie had heart. Or rather it didn't get lost in the costumes,settings and jewellery. SLB didn't need to concentrate on sets much and concentrated on the natural beauty of the ocean and the beaches outside. The melodrama didn't overtake the narrative. Salman and Manisha looking their best. Nana Patekar's character had equal importance.The story was not just about our love birds and the strict parental figure. So many good things about the movie.
