KA is indeed a groundbreaker show, in a myriad of ITV shows with dramatic OTT ambience, bad storylines and awful MLs somehow it's done something incredibly different... Show rape as a positive thing.

Lemme start w the fact that it's not a ONS. It's rape. Stop whitewashing the incident. She's not ready for that, she did not want it, and it's forced prostitution. She's forced to sell herself.

The fact that she shuddered in fear when he touched her, yet he's able to perform further is evident of his true character. He's a rapist who doesnt have any concern for women's autonomy, comfort, basic physical boundaries.

The reason it's way more disturbing in indian subcontinent is bcz how real it is. Women are supposed to putup with this in arranged marriages, when husbands are eligible acc to parents and society. He's hot/educated/well off and that's enough reason to put up with 'one bad thing'.

This show is more regressive than colors+sp combined.

The nibbi response to the show is most disgusting part, this is what audience, esp nibbis are gonna learn to accept. Rape aint a big deal as long as there're sweet gestures and coffee involved later on.

that's the thing which i tried to explain in ddt. That katha forced herself to sleep with Viaan so for that feeling is like being raped. Obviously if a girl have to sleep with some1 with whom she doesn't want to sleep, obviously she would feel like being raped. But people replied me 'katha is not torturing herself, she chose to do it. It was her choice, etc' but i still watch this show for entertainment n aditi. I don't get influenced by shows or movies

No, there's no choice. You cant hold my family at gunpoint and then say you've a choice to sleep w me. There's NO CHOICE. It's rape.

You dont need physical marks, or screams to be assaulted. It's sexual assault plain nd simple.

For people like you, sure it's gonna be fine bc you acknowledge that it's rape, it's bad. But for the impressionable teens, no they're gonna normalise this violence. Before anyone says it doesnt happen, lmao me nd my friends have talked how itv manhandling romance changed their pov in real relationships.

And nibbis going awww sooo cute for a rapist just makes me🤢

yeah i partially agree with u but i think nibbis saying 'awe so cute' for a some1 in real life, it would be not rape coz they will enjoy this treatment n give consent to him. But on a serious note, even nibbis won't like some1 manhandling them, whom they doesn't like. There is much difference between watching onscreen n experiencing it in real life

Oh I meant nibbis thinking his acts afterwards are cute...they're minimizing his act.

Manhandling should be unacceptable, by anyone. And that's where it gets problematic. Everyone, even teens know how to scream nd shout when it's someone you don't like.

My example was abt how we let our BFs treat us, because that's what you see on TV. Besides in Indian subcontinent we're not taught any interactions with the other gender by parents. Sure we'd not let a random person hurt us, but the way we saw 'romance' man dragging his gf, manhandling her into submission, all that gets internalised.

I feel like India gets confused what is actual rape. So many so called rape crimes in newspapers turns out not to be rape as you continue to read it . It turns out to be regret, deal gone wrong or revenge cause the guy decided to be a douche and move on. It makes actual rape cases harder to process. Also people need to learn about consent, healthy relationship etc. I feel that knowledge is lacking.

In Katha’s case she gave consent and could pull out of the situation any time. If Katha wanted to stop anytime and Viaan didn’t then it is rape.

Honestly, Katha could have just told Viaan the truth and showed him the truth. Viaan could have made that decision to just help her. It isn’t the route for the serial so that didn’t happen.

You start with a valid point, but that's not remotely connected to the topic here. Also that kinda rape crimes are still very tiny %. If anything, 90% rapes go unreported, and even the reported one, conviction is very less. And as we saw in Bilkis case, now you can go scott free even after conviction. 'rape cases' aren't processed bc we do not have the systematic institutional resources for that. And this show, and this rape actually is a great example. To investigate a rape you need sensitive institutions, support systems, cops and everything else. Here finger points on the victim always.

Consent isnt always in yes or no. If you held my family at gunpoint and gave me an option, it's really not an option. Also he became a rapist the moment he went ahead with the act even after she literally shuddered in fear. Before that he's a POS who's forcing/persuading his subordinate employee women to sleep with him.

whether katha should've told or not, that's a diff thing, my point is the guy is a power abusing rapist.

I still have a hope that he didn’t do anything. I might be wrong.

It hard for actual rape victim, cause you are not in the right mind to jump though all the hoops ahead to get justice. Can’t even afford to lose time from the act it self cause you lose the evidence. Then there is dealing with family and society.

Being held at gunpoint is a different matter, that is force, no options but no guarantee you going to live or your family will either.

It’s a grey area with the M lead. He gave the offer not as head of the company. It is odd that he would take that risk cause Katha could have just exposed him. Sometimes they don’t full develop the character so he comes across as dumb in certain areas. He only went ahead once she gave consent even though she was initially in fear. It hard to read peoples minds and sometimes it hard to read the signs too. First time - you have nervousness etc, it’s not clear cut. We didn’t see what actually happened between them so it might be portrayed as something else.

I mean there's no guarantee either he'll pay. Even if he'd not paid what she could've done? He could've said she slept with him consensually, and demanded money nd blaming him unnecessarily.

As for cases, that's where the actual problem comes, plenty rapists use protection and there isnt any straight evidence. That's why I said, most of the problems are institutional.

IF HE DID WENT THROUGH THAT, then he's a rapist. I know proper fkbois who'll back out at how she shuddered.

@bold this is literally such a typical defense of a rape. Like I cant remember how many times I've seen that.

Consent, more than yes/no is about desire, it's abt two people enthusiastically doing it, you dont need a Y/N you just have to jump on each other with enthusiasm. He wanted to sleep with her, she didnt. He's literally someone who abused his power. Whether as head/or any other person. Btw people are more nice to actual prostitutes. Nobody but a rapist ignores that kinda signs.
