Why can't our Indian shows propogate widow remarriages. Women over 50 definitely deserve romance in their lives. I think they should introduce someone for PL. A la Victor Bannerjee or Kanwaleet. PL deserves romance in her life. I mean why should older women live life through their kids only. Yes, every woman loves her child dearly, but to relegate her to only ",maataji" and not a woman first,is in my humble opinion, a little narrow. Aren't we women imposing rules on our gender? If OCD and ONS's are acceptable and remarriages are okay then why not mature romances? If this phenomenon is already present in shows, then please enlighten me.

Women over 50 got married in many Ekta serials like Kyunki, Kasauti, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki

I think its applicable only for the main characters

I find BT shows pretty regressive. There are two varieties of women in these shows. One category is the crusader variety, who are out to set right all the ills of their families and society a la Tulsi and Parvati.

The other is the docile doormat variety a la Bani and Prachi, the all sacrificing and suffering kind who are extremely secretive about their mission and who end up messing their own lives and the lives of their loved ones because of their exceptional qualities.

It is difficult to come across a character who is closer to reality, sensible, sensitive and with self respect. Even if such characters exist, like Ayesha in KYM or Rano in KS, they are either turned into vamps as in the former or mute spectators as in the latter.
