Maybe the makers should've thought twice before plagiarising.
Idiots.
Would they be happy if someone recorded their movie and put it on YouTube?
Thaikoodam Bridge created the original song. The producers should've bought rights and credited original artists.

The original and the slightly different version used in the movie is equally magical. Once I was fortunate enough to experience the divine composition in their live performance. The mood of the crowd instantly changed and everyone surrendered to the ambiance they created. I guess more than the raga the instruments used in the songs resulted in the divine experience.
I really wish they settle this issue as early as possible because Kantara movie with out Varaharoopam is incomplete.
They are arguing that its based on a raaga , so anyone can make a song from that raaga
I have seen both songs, and it appeared to me they've clearly plagiarized Varaha Roopam from Navarasam (not just raaga, even the musical instruments, eg the way rock music starts blaring). It's unfortunate, and I hope they'd have just taken permission before. Because we're talking about a feature film, not a cover on YT.... 😔
ETA: There is a beautiful cover that Thaikkidum Bridge has done on a song from Marathi movie Natarang (Highly recommend this movie to everyone. It's a must-watch!!). And I just realized they've not credited the original movie song nor the director nor songwriter. 😆 They should!!
This the song:

I think it is also about the whole arrangement and timing of the way the song pans out, the similarities are very glaring in that sense. Otherwise the raagam can be same and the song will still feel different, though similarities will be there. Listen to this beautiful song from Morning raga (the whole album is just amazing if anyone is interested)

As much as I appreciate this cover, literally nothing can beat the original in Ajay's voice. 🙈 It is so haunting and heartbreaking, the orchestra is toh ust out of this world. I need to be in a zone to revisit the song, lest I start getting emotional just like that. 😆

Are they showing deity dance muted in the movie? 🤔
Hope, the issue gets resolved as this song & deity dance is the USP of Kantara
