Pakistan become the final team to qualify to the semi-final. What a ride that has been, down in the dumps after the first two games, they won their remaining three, but still needed dollops of luck in terms of other results going their way. The tide turned though after South Africa's shocking collapse this morning - as it stands, they're currently at the top of the group on NRR, but India can dethrone them with a win tonight at the 'G'.

By all accounts, the final game of the Super-12 is the only dead rubber of the league phase of the tournament, but this isn't a dead rubber. South Africa's loss in the morning game ensured India's passage into the semi-finals, but they haven't yet confirmed a top berth, with Pakistan ahead of them on NRR as it stands (provided they complete the win over Bangladesh). A win for Zimbabwe will help them finish in the top-4 of the group, thereby confirming an automatic berth in the next tournament in 2024. On form India should win tonight and secure a knockout clash against England at the Adelaide Oval on 10th. A sold-out MCG is ready for what could be another exhilarating contest.
