1. AB made this statement decades ago. I'm not a fan of him as a person but when we judge him and Jaya from 2022, the assumption is *we* would've done better 50 years ago.

No. Of course there's a minuscule percentage who would've been preternaturally liberal, but by and large, humans are rather slow on the uptake. We are still growing as a lifeform. We would've made the same mistakes or worse.

2. Judge AB by his recent statements. He's of course sexist.

3. Even strong women get trapped in bad relationships due to various reasons. They need empathy, not judgement.

Is JB some abla naari?

You know, the Kennedy men were famous for their philandering, yet women were willing to marry them, falling all over themselves...

Hillary never left Bill

Is she an Abla Naari too?

They like the fame, name, power and the riches that came with it, not too mention being treatet like royalty

BTW a man can be trapped in a bad marriage too...

Hillary in 1998 in the U.S. with her law degree is not the same as Jaya in the 70s in India in Bollywood.

With re: Kennedys. There have been multiple divorces in the clan. If you're talking about John and Robert Kennedy, both died relatively young... before the wives could've considered divorce (if they ever would've because those were different times too)

Men in bad marriages have infinitely more options. That's been the norm throughout the history of the world.

I don't get this smugness with which people are judged for their past behavior.

1. It assumes the person doing the accusing has led a totally blameless life.

2. The implication is the accuser would never have done anything remotely bad even if they lived back then.

One of the execs involved in Tokyo Olypmics was forced to resign after someone found an old interview where he admitted to bullying a classmate in GRADE SCHOOL!!!

Sharmila has been luckiest. She belonged to elite families and always got her own way as she wanted. She was shooting even during pregnancy. Films or TV or politics, she did it all and Pataudis never stopped her. She even did bikini photo shoots after marriage and it was others who created scandal out of it. Her husband had no issues with it at all. They had done ads and public appearances together till early 2000s too. Always together as a couple. Secure and content and supportive of each other's work.

I am quite surprised why Sharmila did not support Amrita much. She was not fond of her. Amrita also went underground after marriage. Forget films, she did not even do ads or TV. She resurfaced only after divorce from Saif.

Sharmila seems much more accommodating towards Kareena though.

Bold - No it was before marriage but could be during their courtship

Yes Saif is being praised for being cool with KKK working but Amrita stopped working after marriage and when she resumed it after their divorce, hd didn't like it one bit

He said so in an IV

Is it always fame or for sake of kids and also family or social pressure? What will people say, what will elderly parents or in laws say or typical khandaan ki izzat? And what if man does not want to give divorce even if wife wants or vice versa?

Even now divorce is stigma in India.

Must be more so in 70s. Dimple got lot of flak for leaving Rajesh though she legally did not divorce him. Rekha was made national vamp and blamed for suicide of husband. How can one assume Jaya felt no emotional or social or cultural or family pressure or did not think of reputation and kids?

Anyway man trapped in bad marriage has lot more options and can remain out of house or away or still have lot of affairs. Something that Big B did and his wife still tolerated it or the way Neetu tolerated affairs of Rishi. How many abla men are trapped in bad marriage and cannot give divorce?

Yes, it was horrible what he did as a child. But he was, regardless, a child.

Children tend to be somewhat uninformed/ignorant/stupid/takeyourpick.
