A video allegedly showing veteran Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit in a bold and revealing avatar at an award function has taken over social media. The clip shows a woman resembling her seated at an event in a black slit gown, and it quickly caught attention across platforms. Many users reacted strongly, believing it to be real at first glance, which led to heated discussions and widespread sharing. The clip spread rapidly, fuelled by curiosity, shock value, and the star’s massive fan following.

Fact check reveals deepfake manipulation

As the video gained traction, fact-checks and online observers soon clarified that it was not authentic. The clip had been digitally altered using artificial intelligence tools. Reports suggest that the original footage actually featured actress Bhagyashri Borse at an award event. Her face was replaced with Madhuri Dixit’s using deepfake technology, creating a highly convincing but entirely fake video.

This incident highlights how advanced AI editing has become. Deepfake tools can now map facial expressions and blend them onto another person’s body with striking accuracy. While such technology has creative uses in cinema and digital production, its misuse is becoming a serious issue. In this case, it blurred the line between reality and fabrication, making it difficult for viewers to immediately identify the manipulation.

Madhuri’s upcoming film

She will next be seen in the dark crime-comedy drama Maa Behen, directed by Suresh Triveni and backed by Abundantia Entertainment. The film features her as Rekha, a free-spirited single mother, alongside Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga as her daughters, with Ravi Kishan playing a key supporting role. The film is scheduled for release on 4 June 2026 on Netflix India.
