Teams are not getting enough chances to prove themselves, so, they need to be spared.

Umpires, Aleem Dar and Adrian Holdstock, walked out of the tunnel with umbrellas up. Saw the drizzle continuing and went back. Some Irish players, including Andy Balbirnie, were out, also with an umbrella, having a chat. Assuming the game will happen, it's sure we've started losing overs.

There was an inspection that was supposed to happen, but the rain is on and so are the covers. Grab your mug of sputtering coffee if you haven't. If you are a tea lover, forgive me... Given there is another game after this, the umpires will be very cautious about the outfield. That of course isn't good news, in case you were trying to figure out. The status quo since the last one hour or so hasn't changed much. The amount of water that the outfield must have soaked in already will be a bone of contention if and when the inspection actually happens.

Mahendra: Melbourne is highly rain-affected this season. I think matches at this venue should be moved to another venue.

Varun: Rain is a huge loss for Ireland. They are coming from a confident win and want to maximize the points. Ireland have an advantage in these conditions compared to Afghanistan.
