10 years of English Vinglish

2012 was really a year for movies now that I look back. But English Vinglish really stood out amongst the crop.

A great comeback, a great story and a great moral to be learnt. And a masterclass performance by all involved.

Have watched it 3 times and loved it....each time there was a new layer which I found....beautiful and heart-warming movie!

Sridevi lived the character ....she was sharp, glittering, vivacious, soft, sweet, and vulnerable in equal measure!

This is one of those rare gems which has always left a smile on my face everytime I have seen it and I have seen it multiple times..sri was just something else and was robbed big time..she deserved every award in the country for this performance..so so brilliant..sashi ❤️ no other actor would have made sashi as vulnerable and likable as sri did..

It's a very good movie. I like it very much.

Sri was fabulous as Shashi ❤️ Each time I watch this movie, I’m reminded of her untimely death 💔

Sridevi's sarees from English Vinglish set to be auctioned

The late Sridevi had made a stunning comeback to the silver screen with a gem of a movie called English Vinglish. The film was a hit at the Box Office and resonated with thousands of women across India. Now, in a special gesture commemorating the film's 10th anniversary, the team behind English Vinglish will auction off the sareees worn by the late superstar in the movie.

Gauri Shinde has revealed that a special screening of the movie will be held in Mumbai's Andheri suburb on the 10th of October. The money received after auctioning the sarees will go to an NGO which works to help educate girls. The director further revealed to the Indian Express that she has kept these sarees safe for the past 10 years and auctioning them to help educate girls is a fitting gesture.

From being obedient mother, wife to finding herself as someone who is confident in her skin..sreedevi's sublime performance added beauty to the character.😊
