Bidipta - Hero ; v average. Like PV_IFhandle , even I thought she is another Aryananda. Feeble voice, flat rendition,lacking projection & throw. Didnt connect at all. No MBD ( thankfully) , but gets a film offer by Subhash Ghai.

Shivam - Sreevalli. Good. The variations in the end were done well.

Rishi :- That was an amazing rendition of Kaise Huwa. He brought in something of himself in that song. MBD well-deserved.👍

Vineet :- He still has the tonal quality to touch your heart. Tum jo mil Gaye ho could’ve been better going by his own stds. MBD given

chirag :- not heard this song before, but he surpassed my expectations. He may well be the Nihal of idol 13.

sanchari :- Sorry to say this, but it was insufferable. I squirmed through her performance. She ruined Dum Maro Dum for me esp the mukhda.

Asides….

* Still figuring out which was worse - the chirag/kavya story or the constantly giggling Neha egging them to divulge. Picture abhi baki hai guys…. Brace yourselves for baar baar dhulai of this kahani 😳

* Did Rashmita have a horrified expression (, like me😩) when sanchari started??? 🤔

* The promos for tomorrow don’t look very appealing, even Satya Shivam by Sonakshi - but all will go gaga over it.

* It is definitely a Dream debut for the contestants given the grand set & the guests.

* Missed seeing Idol 12 finalists - wished they were also called as guests.

* And finally…. It is back to MBD! Hadn’t they coined something else instead? 🤔

Though i have never followed any other season before i think Idol 12 deserved this kind of opening

Tbh even Rishi I don't think is mind-blowing. He's good compared to everyone else but he seems so far ahead of the competition which shouldn't be the case. Wish they had better selection of singers. Maybe they will all improve but the content team does not challenge the contestants and they all will be stuck singing the same old 90's Govinda songs etc. The Western singers/ singing has literally been reduced to a gimmick. The classical female singers all have very weak voices, sounding out of breath.

As i said earlier they didn't want too much competition this time

Relatively I liked Senjuti, Shagun and I think Debosmita. It is a reflection that I am struggling to remember exactly who and what!

I was quite surprised they didn't show any of the judges' or guests' comments for Shagun.

Navdeep - technically brilliant but another one who doesn't open his mouth wide enough.

Sonakshi - SSS was better than it appeared in yesterday's promo. But it got me thinking. How cruel life is. You are inevitably compared to the very best. And clearly, this one is not getting anywhere near 92 M views.

Everyone else was like yesterday, pedestrian.

Okay so I don't remember everyone's names so I might refer to their songs 😆

Let me know if I missed any 😆

First thing I feel is lets not be very quick to judge them all...while a few are from the reality show/music background, the rest are new and will take a few weeks to get into their groove. Nihal from last year is a prime example of this...I didn't like him in the beginning but now I am in love with his voice 😆

Okay sooooo:

Saawarya: Okayish, decent.

Bidipta: The weakest of the lot imo, even her Gazab Ka Hai Din was so weak but because of the A-M phone call, I knew she'd get in. Prolly will be one of the first to get eliminated.

Papaji: Quite good. Hearing him for the first time. In fact he did sound a lot like Javed Ali.

Rishi: One of the strongest this season. He sings so effortlessly ❤️ Sach mein Prabhu Rama ka aashirwaad hai inpe ❤️

Vineet: I don't think its fair to have him as a contestant...since he's already been in the biz from before. He could have been a wild card entry but if you think about it...kisi ka Top 15 mein spot gaya na, jo bahar se deserve karta hoga.

PS: Highlight of this performance has to be Ismailji on the violin ❤️ Our music industry has such talented composer, wtf is wrong with music companies?! It really seems liek they are sabotaging music on purpose!

Chashni Gaana: The guy's voice is lovely...I wish he was given a better song. Chashni the song doesn't do justice to anyone's voice...its so meh. That romance wala drama was bhakk..why do they do this urgh. I was against it when it happened with Arunita and PD too.

Dum Maaro Dum Saree wali contestant: Naah, man. The whistle notes were tough tho i.e what she started the song with.

Satyam Shivam Sundaram: Underwhelming. And I gotta blame Arunita for that, her rendition was just brilliant last season 😆❤️

Debosmitha: Very very strong. Her voice is damn sweet and its one of the toughest songs to ever sing. I feel there was a technical issue with the volume but just her voice is bloody brilliant. Won't be surprised if she's a finalist.

Senjuti: Theek tha. Again, its not fair to have her considering she's already sung a bunch of songs and has had the inside experience. Why doesn't Sony have a show for ex contestants and such singers who haven't made it big? That would give them the exposure, get the PH sob stories and another reality show for TRPs.

Navdeep: He's too good. What I love is his voice harsh at all, no matter how high he goes. Definitely we'll see him improve. Personally imo more than winning, all he wants is a certain exposure that will help him when he moves into proper classical music-gharana style.

Kavya: Really surprised me today. Her audition song and this song was wayy different and today's was a drastic improvement.

Anushka: Man she's got a great voice, kind of like the female Nihal of this season. I wish she doesn't get stereotyped in RD BUrman songs because she's got the range and skills. Just gonna state one point here, unlike past seasons, this time the western singers aren't limited to riffs, runs and sing the songs the way they should be sung. I am also happy there aren't long dragged out intros.

Chogada Garba: Theek tha.

Rupam: She's got a certain zing to her voice. Would sound great when recorded.

Btw guys...there's one thing that has been bothering me and I wish to know your opinions...do you think music industry insiders should stop using the term "playback singers"? By using said term it feels like the industry only limits themselves...yes films can have songs etc, but why can't the real artists be known who are behind the songs? Today Pawandeep, Arunita, Salman etc have become names right? Brands if I might say. They don't need actors or films to make a name for themselves...but ye playback playback bolke khud hi limit kyu karna 😆 I get very disappoint when I hear HR say this, esp since he was one of the first to successfully make his face and voice a brand.

Okay rant over, and I have no idea if I made any sense 😆 But does it make sense to y'all?

I found today's episode slightly better than yesterday.

Senjuti - She sang well but I think she should have sung some different song as one contestant sang it in the auditions. Probably Bairy Piya as Ismail Darbar was one of the guests.

Sonakshi - Loved her performance. Don't know if they edited or she didn't sing that last part, I was expecting that part. Vishal's comments were not shown. Anand Ji was fun😆

Debosmita - Beautiful performance. She is a contestant with least exposure I think but doing well. It was good to see Mandakini.

Navdeep - He is really good. I totally enjoyed his performance.

Anushka - I was very impressed with her performance. She is so young and very confident singer and probably versatile too. She will go far in the competition.

Kavya - Her best performance so far. Thankfully no drama around her performance.

Rupam & Shagun - Good. Nothing worth mentioning.

No Performer of the Day given.

Anand Ji will come next week.

Re. Your firsr point. I agree with the sentiment. But what II12 and SS2 showed us is that the coaches in these programs really don't do their job. They don't any time or effort in training the folks. Remember, even Nihal was already a performer and a singer with regional movie songs before he came to Idol. So the fact that he seriously took the advice given to him (I think Pyarelal ji it was) is entirely to his own credit. So realistically, I don't expect many of these people to show significant improvement over the season, unlike what we have seen in earlier years where coaches actually do their job.

Re. this second point. Back in 1980s and 1990s there was a flourishing non-film music industry in India. And it had a very wide range. Classical, ghazal, Devotional, Western, and so on. In this century, with the deterioration of Bollywood has come also the end of the non-film music industry, and in my view the reasons are the same. But let's not get into that conversation here. It is off topic and controversial 🙂

As a fellow with significant family background in Amritsar, Rupam and Navdeep did me proud and both deserved their MBD. Senjuti and Deboshmita were also good. Everybody else was just average.

Senjuti-Very good rendition of one of my favorite songs from Gangubai Kathiawadi. Did not get the appreciation that I thought the performance deserved. She's clearly the female underdog of this competition.

Rupam-I love her style of singing and the folk edge she provides each song. This is a perfect example of how to integrate western elements into singing. She took basically a song from a sex comedy and made me want to dance to it haha. Very well deserved MBD.

Sonakshi-She definitely picked a song that was too big for her. It lacked the emotional impact deserved and was flat throughout. She is a good singer but needs to pick more variety in her songs and not just sing Lata ji's songs.

Anushka-Been a fan of her's since her Lil champs days. I hate how the judges are making her a man-woman voice. She is a very good singer usually. That being said, today she was just alright. Nothing special.

Deboshmita-One of the strong contenders to reach the finale. She did the song justice today and is one of the bigger competitions to Rishi for the title.

Shagun-Absolutely terrible. It was karaoke almost. He is one singer who definitely did not deserve to be in the top 15 who could have been replaced by Rito or Tabish.

Kavya-Unpopular opinion but I found her performance shrieky and shrill. Another contestant who did not deserve top 15. I liked her initial audtition but haven't liked her performances since. Her attempts to be a blues singer don't connect with me. Her spot should have gone to Ananya or Nahid in my opinion.

Navdeep-What more can I say? Easily the most talented contestant this season. However if he wants to win the title, he needs to start singing different types of songs. However he really impressed me today. Looking forward to seeing him stay for a while.
