The sound of machineries near her

She looked around through the blurry vision. . The strange room and equipment

"Main kahan hun "( where am i).

Her head spinned and left arm ached badly. She couldn't recall anything.

Seconds later.

" Patient ko hosh aageya hain", the nurse informed the family. ( The patient woke).

He demanded to see her instantly and the doctor permitted on a condition

" Koyi tension wali baat nehin karni"

( Don't stress her up)

Gulabo rushed in before him to meet her darling injured daughter.

Seconds later,

She was overwhelmed to see her family.

Some kisses and hugs.

Thankfully she is saved.

Finally, he spoke coming a little closer. Standing inches away. Almost trying to hold her left hand. Swallowing back his tears. He really prayed for her safety. She risked her life for him He was deeply touched

" Kaisi ho", ( how are u)

Silence,

"No reply "

He was puzzled. She kept staring at him.

" Ap kaun??" , ( who are u)

The shocked family looked on

" Huh"

He felt his world spinned. She couldn't recall him . He sat beside her taking a chair still holding her hand

" Main Aditya",

She objected nervously, removing her hand

" Aditya kaun. Maine apko pehchana nehin".

( I didn't recognize u)

He felt a blow. A hard one

She forgotten me!

Should i be happy or sad ?

Happy

I don't have to behave like a husband any longer. I can easily get rid of her

A Pause

Why would i feel sad for? Is she that important to me now?.

Gulabo interrupted politely trying to save the day.

" Aditya ney help ki tumhe hospital pahunchane ki."

( Aditya helped to bring u to the hospital".

He nodded in agreement with a weak smile

She continued as Ginni seemed confused, worried for her daughter's health.

" Humara customer"

Shocked Aditya

What the hell??? Customer??

Why didn't say husband??

A pause.

Am i freaking out here ??

That she couldn't remember me??

So,

That was the sad part.

The nurse ushered them to the door politely stating

"the patient needs rest"

."She cannot be stressed".

A few seconds later,

The impatient puzzled husband to the approaching doctor.

" My wife can't remember me"

" What's wrong?".

Silence.

He felt restless. Was there something seriously wrong??

The anxious doctor,

" She suffered huge trauma with high loss of blood which has created a temporary state of amnesia. A partial memory loss. But over the time she will recover. Not to worry ".

Memory loss!! He almost screamed

That was absurd !. He thought

But relieved, she would recover

"And"

The surgeon interrupted, a little worried.

" Becareful, her mind is messed up. She might do weird stuff".

He nodded politely but disappointed

Weird stuff??

It didn't take long enough for him to get the answer

When the nurse came out of the room, freaking out

" Doctor, vo apne husband ko bula rehi hain".

( She's requesting for her husband".

Finally,

Thank god, she remembered.

He walked into the room.

" Ginni, don't worry, main yahan hun tumhare pas"

( I am near u)

The puzzled wife blurted angrily to the nurse.

" Yeh ap kisko laye. Yeh mere husband nehin hain".

( Who did u bring?. He 's not my husband)

He freaked out again

What the hell !

And went into extreme shock when she blurted,

" Mere husband ka naam Armaan hain"

"Unka naam 'A' sey shuru hain"

" Armaan ".

Hr recalled the doctor's words

Messed up mind.!

She's mixing up with me and Armaan

Almost similar .

God! This is crazy.

My wife thinks my best friend is her husband

More than the husband, the good friend suffered the blow. An extreme shock that he almost fainted at the hospital with the nurses attending to him .

Apparently, Armaan went to the office awhile for some last minute work and was instructed to be at the nursing home soonest possible.

On the other hand, Ginni gave the doctor a tough time to discharge her. She had a family to take care. She was fine. At the same time annoyed why her husband didn't appear.

Finally Armaan made the effort to see her in the recovery room followed by Aditya and the family.

She held his hand.

" Aap ageye. Bahut acha lega" ( u came. I feel good)

" Inko bolo mujhey ghar jana hain",( tell them i want to go home).

Standing at one corner watching his partial memory loss wife, he didn't know exactly how to react Was he glad or upset??

He didn't want to be the husband anyway. They already decided to part ways in a month. But why was he upset?? What was it??

" Ap jealous to nehin ho na ki Ginni didi apke friend ko husband manti hain", the little sister in law blurted. ( U are not jealous Ginnii thinks ur friend is the husband?)

He was taken aback. That was too direct

Silence

Was i ???

The calm reply still unable to justify

" Nehin, vo abhi uski tabiyat thik nehin haina isliye.". ( No , right now she's not well, that's why)

The persistent curious Dimpy who shocked him by saying

" Agar yadash wapas na ayi toh?".

( What if memory never returned)

Silence.

( No reply)

Anxiety , in deep thoughts

What if Dimpy was right??

The consoling to self tone,

No, the doctor said she would recover.

The interruption from the little girl again that upset him.

"Acha hain yadash wapas hi na aye. Na vo apke ghar jaiyegi. Na vo bejati sehe gi. Aur waise bhi vo apke sath konsi kush hain. Ap toh unko apni wife bhi nehin mante".

(It's better the memory doesn't return. Spare her from ur family humiliation. She is not happy with u either . U don't even accept her as a wife,).

Silence

She was right. This is the best time to depart ways.

Ginni was discharged due to her persistence to return home and Gulabo requested her still confused and shocked son in law to permit her to take her daughter home so a good care is provided. As a mother, she wanted to be with her ill child. Her heart was restless.

He gave in to the worried mother and went into another shock when Ginni sitting on the wheel chair enquired Armaan politely yet sweetly.

" Ap bhi chalo sath main. armaanji".

The doctor reminded Aditya and the family twice.

No stress should be given. Just bear a while. She will recover within a few days. It's only temporary. The body has gone into a shock.

He frowned.

This woman is a walking heartattack

Ever since she came into my life, she turned it upside down.

Kya sey kya bengeya ( what have i became)

He could sense the turnaround.

She was changing him

He couldn't sleep. Her absence was felt for the first time.

Was i missing her???

He couldn't..

Finally the anxious curious husband rang his mother in law to check on his wife's condition. She understood his plight, the actual reason he called and blurted calmly, trying to hide her laughter recognizing the misery of a husband when wife is sharing a room with his good friend.

" Ginni thik hain"( she is ok)

Silence.

He waited for the next line. Hopefully she understood. He felt a little embarrassed to enquire.

And she replied knowingly. It was clear. It affected him.

" Vo Armaan Shampy key kamre mey jake so geya, uskey sath". ( Armaan slept in Shampy's room)

A relief

The mother continued calmly,

" Puttarji kuch din ki toh baat hain. Phir sab thik ho jaiga. Waheguruji dey uttey bharosa karo".

( It's just a matter of a few days. All will be ok have faith in the lord).

He sighed and went to sleep.

Hopefully, she will regain her memory.

The next morning a frantic call from the friend.

" Yaar, she is asking where are our children. I am telling u , u better tell her otherwise i will go crazy and run away".

The husband replied.

" More than u , i am going crazier. I want to end the marriage and now she started a new drama. This is just annoying. It's going to extend her title as my wife. And I don't like it ".

The curious Armaan.

",U still want to end the marriage?"

He replied spontaneously irritatingly.

" Yes, yes, she's getting on my nerves".

The pissed friend

Shot four

The disturbed and confused hubby struggled to concentrate throughout the day.

There were no phone calls and he became restless as the hours passed.

Shall i go and see??

He rang his friend still wondering why no news

Is everything all right??

Hope he didn't commit suicide .

A pause

Ginni!.

Is she fine??

Finally he rang the mother in law and the lady invited him for lunch . He took the offer instantly thinking what could be a better way than this.

Gulabo had her own motives. She was worried Singhs would take that opportunity to ditch her daughter. She had to get Aditya to meet her daughter often so that the latter could recall the latest events in her life.

Aditya was a good husband. She hoped they remained married.

At Ginni's place.

The puzzled wife as she opened the door for him.

" Ap yahan'? ( U are here??)

The calm reply hiding his anxiety.

" Vo gulaboji ney khane peh bulaya".

( Invited for lunch)

She nodded allowing him to enter the house.

A few seconds later, at the dining table.

The aroma of the food served was just too good that his starving tummy growled. Haven't been able to eat anything properly since he returned from the hospital the previous day

The sudden shock was too much to handle.

It was totally unexpected.

His eyes searched for the friend and found out that he was away to purchase some sweets. Gulabo wanted to offer to the Gurdwara for Ginni's recovery.

Aditya started his meal accompanied by Goldie, Simran and the siblings. Ginnii didn't join.

He wondered the reason.

Is she fine??

Dimpy interrupted eyeing him.

" Ginni didi kamre mein hain. Vo Armaanji ka intezar kar rehi hain. Vo kehti hain unkey sath khana khaigi. Kal bhi un dono ney sath mey hie khana khaya tha",

( Ginni in her room waiting for Armaan . She says would eat with him. Even yesterday they ate together).

He wasn't sure if it was a good or bad news but he definitely lost his appetite on the spot. He stopped eating. His friend was taking his place.

He felt the sting.

Was he losing her ?.

That too to a close friend??

" Dimpy!" Gulabo interrupted harshly.

" Chup chap khana kha".,( Eat quietly)

Dimpy was somehow glad that her sister had forgotten the Singhs and was home with them

She couldn't forget Shailja's slaps and humiliations.

Dimpy swore to herself.

That she would break Aditya Ginni marriage.

Armaan finally joined them and was happy to see Aditya , hinting

Pls do something fast and get me out of here.

Ginni came out of her room hearing his voice,

" Ap ageye. Main thali lati hun".( U came? I bring the plate)

He felt he was getting diabetes with her sugary talks.

Why is she so sweet to Armaan??

She was never that sweet to me?

Seconds later

He was shocked.

She brought only one thali (plate) and stated.

" Aaj aek hie thali mein khate hain. Papaji kehtey hain issey petni pati key bich pyar bedbta hain".

(Today we eat in one plate , papaji said by doing this husband wife love flourishes)

Armaan and Aditya exchanged glances with the former indirectly pleading.

Pls do something before things go out of control. She's totally messed up. I will end up killing myself.

And the later implied

Need to get her brains checked.

Something definitely was wrong.

Dimpy smeared oil in the fire when she demanded sweetly.

" Pehla nivala aek dusre ko khilao. Issey bhi pyar bedhta hain". ( Feed one another the first bite would help to flourish the love more as well).

Ginni obeyed smiling shyly while Armaan looked like as though he was gonna run that very instant.

The husband felt uncomfortable as the duo fed one another and stood up at once giving an excuse to leave

Gulabo glared at her younger daughter who apparently ignored and looked away.

She was adamant to get her older sister out of the marriage . The humiliations during Gurleen's marriage still played in her mind.

Golabo stopped her son in law and requested him to give a lift to Ginnii to the Gurdwara to distribute the kadha prasad and sweets to the devotees. It was better she gave it away herself.

The mother tried hard to get her daughter back to her real husband.

Amaan took the opportunity to get away stating he had to meet a friend due to a last minute urgent work.

Let the duo spend some time together . Perhaps her memory will return.

A few minutes later, on the way to Gurdwara.

An akward moment of silence between both with Channa mereya bgm

Finally the wife spoke with curiosity,

" Aisa kyun legta hain apko pehle kehin dekha hain". ( Why do i feel i have seen u before)

He felt relieved.

Thank God i look familiar to her . That means she's slowly recovering. That's good.

Her polite voice interrupted.his thoughts.

" Apki shadi hogeyi?" ( are u married?).

Silence

He shook his head

The next question

" Apney shadi kyun nehin ki?. Aptoh dikhney mein bede sone ho".

( Why u never married? U are good looking".

Silence.

His heart skipped a beat.

A compliment!

The next was not a question but an offer which literary made him to almost hit the emergency brake but he controlled himself.

" Meri aek seheyli abhitak kuwari hain. Preeto naam hain. Bedi soni . Apkey sath jodi khoob jemegi. Ap chahe toh main aek date fix kardun? ".

( My friend is still single. Her name is Preeto. Very pretty. Both of u will look together. Shall i fix a date).

Silence

The shocked husband tried to find an excuse.

" Vo meri already girlfriend hain".

Silence

The next question that amused him

" Apko bache pasand hain?".( Do u like children?)

Silence.

Thankfully they reached and he needn't reply. They distributed the khada prasad and sweets to the devotees and as they returned to his car suddenly she tripped falling into his arms .

(Bgm of CM played)

The pitch darkness of his eyes. She stared hard and finally murmured

"Adityaji".

His pulses raised hearing his name but she felt dizzy out of a sudden, falling unconscious in his arms once again

Perhaps she was getting the flashbacks. .

For the first time he felt really good .

She has started to remember me
