They are clearly using skin colour as a way of reiterating class. They same thing happened in Gully Boy. They brownfaced Ranveer but left Alia's skintone as she is because her family is well off in the movie. It's just so subtle that you don't notice it at all but it becomes part of your subconsciousness and how you relate to people. This shouldn't even be the case at all because Hrithik is South Asian so why even varnish his skin tone, eh? I'm not faulting Hrithik here, rather the movie makers.

Hrithik is Indian and also leads a pampered life. He needs makeup to look like a criminal who's had a rough few decades

Also, Brown-faced Hrithik was the good guy in Super 30.

Everything is not about social injustice. Sometimes, it's about the reality of life's hardships.

Damn what a song! The dance, the expressions, everything was bang on! Hrithik really blew it out of the water here.

Just going through the brown face discussion and I do agree with you here. The point is not to show "social classes" with brown facing. It's to show the roughness, street smarts, and the years of hardships. In the trailer if you watch carefully, in the younger years Hrithik is not as brown faced. He's basically his normal shade. As he grows older, he gets browner, his skin becomes more wizened, his hair more shaggy.

Anyone who spends years outside, in the various weather elements, goes through such changes. Look at anyone in a labour-intensive role like construction, roofing, roadwork, etc. Their skin does become darker over time.

It's not so much about brown facing here as it is about aging the character. And thankfully the makers are doing that properly.

And it's not just with Hrithik. If you look at Saif, they do that subtly there as well. His skin doesn't become as brown, but his skin does add a bit of brown over time and, maybe this is just me, but I felt in parts of the trailer he was less bulky and in other parts more bulky. So the makers are giving both characters proper focus with progress over the years.

Yes. I think where we should take offence is when there is no actual reason for doing it. Like I remember there was this song that Fardeen and Kareena did in one of their movies in which they did black face for no reason. Or when in comedy movies or shows they randomly black face people and make it into a joke about their language or culture.

In many movies, it is needed to showcase the hardships a person goes through. You cannot show hardships just by showing the person growing older or living in a broken down house. Their body, face, structure, everything changes. So here it does make sense.

Btw Ranveer wasn't brownfaced in GB.

Zoya herself told he had come back from Maldives, he was tanned naturally.

On top of that hours of shooting out in the sun.

The God Of Dance Is Back. Its been ages seeing him dance like a dream the last we saw is War i still can't get off Bang Bang MJ dance of Hrithik what a tribute to the late dance legend by his biggest fan

Coming to this song. Its a average need to listen a few times to grow on me but i feel it won't since Manike hss become my addiction

Hrithik is ageing & it could be seen. The look is something i am not fond of what owns the song is the God Of Dance himself Hrithik Roshan
