Karishma debuted at a time when nepokids and outsiders were both struggling. Plus the Kapoor family didn’t support her working in movies and she had to work in lot of B grade movies. On the other hand, Kareena got her debut with Amitabh’s son.

Infect Karisgma was considered for chandni role in rk film Henna but could not materialized as her uncle rishi stepped into the main lead..its all in the magazines as well

And babita was not some filmi vamp mother as this forum portrays her or like to see her like that for some reason.

Early 90s yeah..post 95..and after Raja Hindustani Karisma was a top actress along with kajol..Raveena just starting fading away and did one garbage movie after another..

I find karishma very limited in terms of her acting …like she dosent go above and beyond and wow…probably why her second innings is so bland and unremarkable ….…I also don’t like her screechy dialogue delivery in the crying scenes (zubeidaa and fidaa included)

Kareena oscillates between unbearable (early days) , passable and spectacular ….She’s bound to have more fans because extremities register a better impact….
Karishma can be very easily ignored in a frame …kareena can’t …

Yes that's true

Raveena literally did professional suicide by not signing any film after her most golden year 1994 where she finally got rid of her JINXED heroine tag and gave a string of hit films, she was only behind Madhuri in popularity post 1994 and most magazines labelled her 2nd popular heroine after Madhuri..

And then Akshay happened... Alas

Also she lost most of her ravishing bubbly looks which were her USP till 1995-96

Karishma used to be called a gawky teenager Tull 95 but evolved into a beautiful lady later on

What a reversed journey for karishma and raveena from 1991-95 and 1995 to end of their respective careers.

Raveena Tandon I don’t know if she’s an full outsider. I don’t think she ever worked in her dads films but it was said her dad was the judge and she got a National award 😆

Kareena was the better actor of the two. Karishma was strictly adequate and that's it. Both of them got their due from the fans as well as the industry. There are better actors than Karishma among her contemporaries who are reduced to Mom roles these days. Maybe she doesn't want to go that route.

If Karishma's performance was cheesy or exaggerated in some situations like emotional scenes, it could be cz of that period... That was the style of the 90s except maybe some like Tabu

South remakes were common and they took overaacting to another level

And Yes Karishma's contemporaries were much better, some were great actually, she had stiff competition compared to Kareena' who got lucky with her contemporaries... They were so-so at best

Don’t know about that but I always liked Karisma more.
