Why industry favoured Kareena over Karishma?

Khans have done multiple films with Kareena till date even after Kareena got married and had kids.

But with Karishma, SRK did only one film where she was not paired opposite him and Aamir worked with her in only Raja Hindustani as male lead and AAA as part of ensemble cast.

Only Salman has worked more with Karishma in films like Jeet, Dulhan Hum le jayenge, HSSH etc.

Karishma hardly got big banner films the way Kareena has always got big banner films from day one.

Karishma hardly got as many awards except National award for DTPH and best actress awards for Raja Hindustani and Fiza.

Chopras or Johars hardly gave her films as main lead.

She got far less endorsements and even her comeback was not preferred. She hardly got films or offers.

Only Govinda and Ajay worked most with Lolo.

She has hardly got many reality shows either unlike Madhuri and Juhi or Shilpa and Sonali.

Why has Karishma mostly been ignored by industry and hardly got much work or attention compared to Kareena or even other actresses of 90s despite being one of most popular stars of 90s?

Even Raveena nowadays is more visible than Karishma.

I have said this many times here. I know Kareena hammed a lot in the first few years of her career. But overall she proved to be a much better actress then. Karishma. Karishma hammed throughout her career until the very end. Karishma also did not have the looks when she first started her career. It is was the same way with Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt. Only difference was Pooja Bhatt was as talented as Aalia. Alia ended up being on the favorites list of big people. Both younger sisters were both more extroverted and go-getters. Maybe that was why.

I will give this because nepotism was not as strong back then. Karishma did work very hard for the few years of success she did experience as well.

* Karishma was not that charismatic for 60% initial time of her career, unlike Kareena who charmed the audience with her screen presence

* Karishma didn't even knew makeup and dressing till mid 90s..her makeup dresses and the thick manly eyebrows were a joke back then from early to mid 90s...Kareena was all groomed and way too charming even in her debut

*Karishma paved the way for Kareena.... no one was there to do that favor to Karishma

* Karishma was a bad actress till mid 90s

* There was a lot of competition when karishma started....giants like sridevi, madhuri ..and even her contemporaries Juhi, Raveena, Kajol, Urmila etc were way too good ...unlike Kareena who had just PeeCee or bipasha as her competitors

*Amir hardly repeats his hit heroines, except Juhi... urmila and pooja bhatt case in reference (even Madhuri who just had one other film apart from the blockbuster Dil, and that other film DMSN came right after 2 weeks of DIL's release).

* Karishma STARTED SHOOTING for the big budget films with those time's most hot upcoming star salman khan in 1990 for two films JAAGRUTI and NISCHAIY which were released in 1992. Also she got SAPNE SAAJAN KE and megha with that time's hottest start Rahul Roy post Aashiqui.

* People think due to her debut with HARESH that she was not getting good films with major heroes, but that is far from truth... part from prem qiadi she was paired with all big male leads of 90's salman, govinda, sunny deol, anil kapoor, jackie shroff etc in big budget films.

Prem Qaidi was Babita's choice as she really liked that script.

* Also Karisham's REAL DEBUT was Dharmendra's hottest upcoming son BOBBY DEOL mega budget film BARSAAT which Karishma walked out of (just like Kareena walked out of KNPH) due to the film took too long, and she needed to be part of the industry sooner than later.

*She also got Andaz apna apna in 1990 with that time's hottest upcoming stars Amir khan and Salman khan. film was delayed for 4 years till 1994.

* The screen presence and charisma which Kareena had/has is way too much and better than Karishma's..even though karishma calls herself Charisma (to sound modern) 😆

I agree with the bold parts and also about her thick eyebrows (During her early days she WAS considered manly looking, her looks improved considerably later)

And nepotism was not as strong back then

And people expected more, not like nowadays - show tiniest variation in expressions and are given multiple awards

Karisma had more struggles than Kareena, the latter had a smoother journey. Kareena is more driven and has experimented more. In Karisma's time, Bollywood had fewer female-led mainstream films.

Both sisters are pretty but Karisma is more beautiful

There is nothing wrong with thick eyebrows, now it is in fashion

Karishma improved a LOT and was good in Zubeida and Fiza. She also began to look very good post her makeover in Raja Hindustani. I do not think she was that bad. And to give her credit she was one of very few who could match dance steps and comic timing of Govinda.

I personally think she sort of reduced her market value by doing too many films with Govinda, Akki, Ajay, Sunny and was perhaps not considered elite enough for Khan, YRF or Dharma films.

I feel sad how she is more known for her sad and controversial married life than her career now.

Reportedly Babita wanted her to quit films and showbiz and get married to pave way for Bebo and avoid comparisons between sisters.

I am shocked how Karishma also looks weak and poorly maintained compared to others.

Only doing atta chawal ads now.

IDK what has happened to her voice also.

She danced well in Nach Baliye in 2007. I am shocked she got no offers to judge dance shows. She danced well with Govinda also in DID. She gets nostalgic compliments from 90s kids on YouTube and Insta till date.

Still she is featured very less in ads or reality shows or talk shows compared to others. It is surprising how even also rans of 90s like Shilpa have better exposure than Lolo now.

Kareena gets work with Khans even in older age. Unlike Lolo who simply disappeared. Her web series also flopped it seems.

Kajol is also everywhere and looks better than what she did in 90s.

Karishma's fizzling and downward spiral or disappearance and failures seem weird and hard to understand.
