I hope they don't butcher Panchali's character as these makers always do.
Once again:
She was the frigging FINANCE MINISTER for the entire empire and knew their worth to the last penny.
She was the citizen liaison for the empire.
Her dowry from Panchal and Krishna was what the Pandavas used to build Indraprastha. Karna called her Bandhaki. That word didn't mean a straightforward prostitute. It meant a prostitute whose husband lived on her income.
She never made any silly vow about washing her hair in blood. Her braided hair is mentioned TWICE during exile.
She called Yudhishtira a drunk and a gambler in public.
She lectured Krishna and Yudhishtira on the duties of the elite, not the other way around.
She practically ordered Krishna to do his duty.
She was accused of being an atheist because she was so logical and practical.
She sent Bheema to attack the Gandharvas and grab their gemstones. Saugandhika is a gemstone and not a simple lilly as the makers portray. She was building a war chest and not picking flowers in the middle of the jungle a la Yash Raj heroines.
Yes, she did manipulate Bheema into killing Keechak against Yudhishtira's orders.
She forgave Ashwatthama.
She never called Karna a suthaputhra at her swayamvara. He lost. Southern versions say through Krishna's treachery. Regardless, Karna lost.
She never called Suyodhana blind. No one did. The younger Pandavas and the MALE Krishna laughed at Suyodhana. He then went to his daddy and said Panchali laughed. Even then, he never said she called him blind.
After war, she called Yudhishtira an insane man who should've been locked up. She called the Pandavas insane for not doing it.
Did I mention she was the finance minister and citizen liaison?
That's my one request of any MBh writers and showmakers. Panchali was an awesome force and a real role model for Indian women. Please don't turn her into a soap bahu.
Almost forgot this: KRISHNA was her name. Vyasa named her Krishna.
The male Krishna was called Govinda mainly.
