I hope they don't butcher Panchali's character as these makers always do.

Once again:

She was the frigging FINANCE MINISTER for the entire empire and knew their worth to the last penny.

She was the citizen liaison for the empire.

Her dowry from Panchal and Krishna was what the Pandavas used to build Indraprastha. Karna called her Bandhaki. That word didn't mean a straightforward prostitute. It meant a prostitute whose husband lived on her income.

She never made any silly vow about washing her hair in blood. Her braided hair is mentioned TWICE during exile.

She called Yudhishtira a drunk and a gambler in public.

She lectured Krishna and Yudhishtira on the duties of the elite, not the other way around.

She practically ordered Krishna to do his duty.

She was accused of being an atheist because she was so logical and practical.

She sent Bheema to attack the Gandharvas and grab their gemstones. Saugandhika is a gemstone and not a simple lilly as the makers portray. She was building a war chest and not picking flowers in the middle of the jungle a la Yash Raj heroines.

Yes, she did manipulate Bheema into killing Keechak against Yudhishtira's orders.

She forgave Ashwatthama.

She never called Karna a suthaputhra at her swayamvara. He lost. Southern versions say through Krishna's treachery. Regardless, Karna lost.

She never called Suyodhana blind. No one did. The younger Pandavas and the MALE Krishna laughed at Suyodhana. He then went to his daddy and said Panchali laughed. Even then, he never said she called him blind.

After war, she called Yudhishtira an insane man who should've been locked up. She called the Pandavas insane for not doing it.

Did I mention she was the finance minister and citizen liaison?

That's my one request of any MBh writers and showmakers. Panchali was an awesome force and a real role model for Indian women. Please don't turn her into a soap bahu.

Almost forgot this: KRISHNA was her name. Vyasa named her Krishna.

The male Krishna was called Govinda mainly.

THIS !!!

They mostly show her as some vengeful woman šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø, like you mentioned- a soap bahu šŸ¤”.

Even if they can’t go in much detail , I hope they don’t show her to be soap bahu .

Yes, She’s ą¤•ą„ƒą¤·ą„ą¤£ą¤¾ and he’s ą¤•ą„ƒą¤·ą„ą¤£.

I have seen Television shows making Draupadi seem very rude to Karn in Swayamvar scene , maybe a ploy to create sympathy for him .

Oh, 100% to create sympathy.

Also, to make an excuse for him orchestrating a sexual assault on her. It was not Suyodhana who ordered the assault. KARNA ordered Dusshasana to disrobe her. KARNA ordered Dusshasana to take her to the wh*re house. KARNA ordered Panchali to pick someone to have sex with.

But when he's being portrayed as this poor boy who came up the hard way, they choose to excuse his crimes.

Makers completely ignore the sex trafficking he did of women and children.

They also ignore him offering his wives and children as slaves to whomever could help him locate Krishna and Arjuna.

These writers don't seem to understand the difference between a sympathetic character and an INTERESTING character.

Karna is an interesting one. What's the need to whitewash him?

Actually, Yudhishtira could be a very interesting character in the hands of the right writer. Imagine growing up as Bheema and Arjuna's big brother!šŸ˜† Imagine even his wife was won by little brother! Imagine he got his kingdom thanks only to his in-laws and Krishna!

Yudhishtira even admitted he played dice to win Hastinapuri. What could have been going through his mind? Insecurities? Jealousy? Greed? Unfortunately, that part gets completely ignored by makers.

I never knew about Karn doing sex trafficking 😮 .

Yes, often makers push the narrative that Karn went on to chose wrong path because he was bullied by society for being a Sutaputra .

In most of the shows they have shown Karn objecting to idea of disrobing of Draupadi šŸ˜† .

You’re right.
A good writer would definitely do wonders because Mahabharata characters are really complex and interesting šŸ˜† but these adaptions usually present them as one dimensional characters , especially Yudishitra , he shown as a good obedient boy , nothing else šŸ˜†. In most of shows he’s just there for show , hardly gets any scenes except crucial moments. šŸ˜†

Anga used to abandon the disabled also.

I have a big list of K boy's crimes. Disney should really hire me as consultant šŸ˜†. I would work for free for Panchali's sake.

I’m quite keen to see an on screen adaptation of MB. The scope with VFX is insane. But I think I read the adaptation is being done by KJo? Which just makes me rather anxious.
