No, it's being done by Madhu Mantena. He owned Phantom Films. Masaba's ex husband.

Happy to report I got it completely wrong😆I think I saw the Disney Expo thing with MB announcement and KWK coming back and mixed the 2 in my head. We can both breathe a sigh of relief!

It should not be made for sake of the titular character as its not based on Mahabharata, it is an adaptation of "Palace of Illusion" by Chitra Banerjee

Madhu Mantena has been trying to make Mahabharata forever now. He turned it into Draupadi with Deepika when the project lost heat. There was never any actual director attached, nor was there any pre-production. It's a standard trick to keep the project hot.

On a side note, Palace of Illusions is a terrible book and hope no one is thinking of adapting that 😆

PoI is the book version of Raja Ki Ayegi Baarat and Benaam Badshah.

Romantically putting a sex assault survivor with the sex assaulter!

I don't know what is with Indian authors and sexual assault. Amish Tripathi's Ramayana is the worst offender. ☢️

Did they put Sita opposite Ravan? Some southern tales call her Ravan's stolen daughter, so I thought that might be the tack taken by Amish.

So it's disgusting from any pov. Either sex assault romance or incest.

I never got to the Sita book, but I know there is some weird angle there also. But in the first book, he directly adapts the Nirbhaya case into the book for no reason but to drive conflict between Ram and Bharath over how to punish the juvenile convict.

The father daughter angle is ok for me because many ancient southern tales do say that. And Ravan never actually touched Sita. He kept her prisoner.

Nirbhaya case inserted? I don't mind that so much except I hope Ram was for punishing the juvenile? Perhaps not death but severe enough.
