No matter how unlikeable Priya is, I feel a little bad for her. This family's old-world traditions (eg. daughter-in-law's family should bring all their zaroorat ka saaman to visit their daughter in her sasural) was very disturbing to hear. Maybe this is still practiced in many places in India but I have not grown up like that so I can understand how suffocating it can become for someone like Priya.

And yeah I know that she chose to be married and all that blah blah...spare me.

Agree with you 💯 why are such medieval traditions being advocated here 😕 even having a male child was shown as an absolute necessity by Devs mom saying to Priya that pray you have a son next etc etc 🤢

Hota hai aisa in some places in India. I have witnessed this in my relatives house. Dowry lenge ladki walo se. Bacha hoga to hospital ka kharcha ladkiwaalo ka. Bachhe ka samaan to " naani ke yahan se hi aata hai" dialogue chipka dete hai.

I have a rural background.I spend half time in city, half in village so I have seen so many things in name of rituals that these shown on serials seem very whitewashed versions.

I felt bad reading this post, especially when you are saying reality is harsher than fiction. I hope you have not suffered too much because of such practices. Hugs!

Plz don't feel sad for me I m perfectly fine, thankfully my parents are educated and liberal. It's my cousins and others whose plight I have seen with my eyes. I have watched these things from a very young age and these have made me stronger.
